----------------------------------------------------------------- ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀TO GO ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀by aaron (@-revery) ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀ a poem ----------------------------------------------------------------- ⠀ "I have to go." ⠀ Dad says this kissing the top of my hair, his suit crisp and his briefcase in hand. He pats my cheek with his warm signature smile, the both of us standing by the front door. Mom and Kyle are in the other room, opposite rooms, not speaking to each other, doing their own things. I'm the only one seeing dad off before he goes to work. ⠀ "I have to go." ⠀ Dad says this in the hospital room as the heart monitor starts beeping to a close. The chair beside the bet is occupied with me in it, holding dad's hand tightly. This time, he really has to go. ----------------------------------------------------------------- ⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀ NOTES This poem is about the power of words. The way they can mean one thing one time, yet another thing another time. The same words, but such different meanings. Also, I'm sorry for the long wait, but I AM still working on chapter 1 of Underway! I just might post short poems in between chapters if I get the inspiration :) -----------------------------------------------------------------
