this ride is with KW Light The Stage ‘Lexy’ First thing in the morning on December 16th I pulled up to the Crestwood XC Christmas Course with Lexy. She’s pretty new but i’ve ridden her several times on my XC course and ponied her along, and led her through it, and she’s got pretty bored of my jump setup and has got a bit hasty in her turns and jumping. I did not use all of the jumps since she’s not used to anything too tall. 1. after saddling up Lexy we cantered out and past the first jump 2. at the second jump I nudged her over it and continued across the course 3. at the third jump we had to try twice. the first time she went through the water. the second time over she jumped it though. 4. at the fourth jump I asked Lexy to jump it, and she did. but it was a bit more of a hesitant jump than the first two. 5. at the fifth jumps we just cantered through the water since she’s not too keen on water jumps yet. 6. the 6th jump was a bit confusing for both me and Lexy, so after some pokeing around at it i figured it out and we jumped it. It kinda reminded me of a spider. 7. at the 7th jump, Lexy was like ‘Mum, can we PLEASE jump this?’ so i let her fly over it and continued down the course. 8. soon we came up to the 8th jump, and she jumped that smooth as butter as well. she likes the log ones a bunch. 9. at the 9th jump, i wasn’t sure about if she could jump or not so i just cantered by it and let her see it. 10. we did the same at the 10th jump since it’s larger than the majority of the ones she has jumped over. 11. by the time we got to the 11th jump, she was tired but wanted to give it a go. I held Lexy back a bit but let her out and pushed her a bit to let her jump over the jump. she did it but i’m probobly not going to jump too many that size soon. we’ll build up her height slowely, and at her pace. but afterwards we just doubled back over the course and came back to the trailer at a trot and then slowed down to a walk for the last bit back to the trailer for a cooldown.
