West Milford Township Wilson Family Farm Sam landed in the gravel driveway, his boots crunching on it. It felt good to be here, but under the circumstances, it was not the greatest relief. He had grown up here, living with his uncle after his dad and mom had died. His uncle was gone now too. He unlocked the farm house's front door and stepped in. He had kept the house in good condition. It was like his second home. There were, however, people living here. His brother Gideon, and his sister, Sarah. They ran the farm now. Jesus Sam, Sarah said, walking towards him. If we didn’t have a camera I would have shot you clean through when you just walked right in. Sorry, Sam said, hugging Sarah. I should have knocked. Gideon stood off to the side, looking on. Hey, Sam said, walking up to him. Are you doing ok? Yep, Gideon said, shaking Sam’s hand. Gideon and Sam had never been that close. I forgot, Sarah said. Your lady friend Misty is here to see you. I don’t know a Misty, Sam said. A woman walked down the hall, wearing leggings, red sneakers, and a red leather jacket over black sweater. The only thing strange about her was that her left hand was metal. Sam blinked. Yeah, she said. Lost it in a car accident. Who the heck are you, Sam asked. Misty smiled. Call me Misty Knight, ok? I used to work with Iron Fist and Luke Cage. That jogged Sam’s memory. He had heard Luke Cage talk about this woman a couple times. So, Sam said, why are you here? She smiled. Cap, she said, It’s time you release a statement. There are already people out there fighting for you. Heck, there was a clash the police had to break up down at the National Mall. They are expecting large opposing protests to happen next week, and the organizers contacted me. Said they wanted you to lead the march. An open defiance of the government's hunt for you. Sorry, Sam said, but that could result in civilians getting hurt. Misty narrowed her eyes. The media does not know this yet, she said, but Walker has some skeletons in his closet. But they will soon, provided the journalist from The Guardian I tipped off runs the article. What exactly did he do, Sam asked. She smiled. There are units he was connected to in the military that are suspected of war crimes and unsavory actions, like writing racial slurs on the walls of a mosque in Iraq with gunfire. The bullet holes formed the words. Jesus, Sam said. Are you saying he was with them at the time? I believe a video of you walking past the wall and chuckling like you saw something funny is enough evidence, Misty said. He’s for the right, Misty said. He agrees with them on policy, and trust me, a man with a violent combat history such as himself is a bomb waiting to go off. Mark my words, he will do something as Captain America, sooner, rather than later. Somewhere Near Louisa, Virginia Watchdog Compound John Walker and Lemar Hoskins swept through ranks of Watchdogs like a blade. The compound was small, and the two had already successfully trashed the first half of it. The second half consisted of a training ground. A firing range, a small patch of barbed wire, two climbing walls, and a pillbox. The pillbox was their greatest concern of course. It was pouring gunfire on their position, where they sat, taking cover behind a Jeep Wrangler. Watchdogs mounted the climbing wall, their purple and orange kevlar and helmets glinting in the mixed glow of gunfire and moonlight. Walker hoisted himself onto the roof of the Jeep and leapt off of it, holding his shield up in front of him. Bullets bounced off of it, and he landed, whipping his gun from its holster and squeezing off shots, knocking Watch Dogs off of their climbing wall cover. The pillbox gunfire ceased. Walker looked up at its viewport to see the barrel of a rocket launcher sticking out. He threw his shield with all his might, knocking the barrel off course as it fired. The rocket flew past his head, slamming into the Jeep and exploding. He swore. Battlestar had been taking cover behind it, and through the flames and smoke, he could see the man’s body, lying prone on the ground. Walker went berserk.
