Forgotten- One day a mouse was wandering the wet, loud, streets of New York, searching for food. This mouse has lost everything he had. He has no warm home, no owner, and no family. This mouse used to be a pet mouse, and his owner loved him so much. But one day, the house cat had chased out the mouse, leaving the mouse confused of where he was, he was lost. He hadn't meant to escape, and he had never been a street mouse, but with his fur ruffled he set aside the pain and went on to try to thrive. As he was searching the cold streets, dodging cars and trying to run, he hadn't found any food. He almost gave up. But then he thought to himself "If i cant find food, let me try to find a home. I'm a courageous mouse! Oliver the Great they will call me when I get back home!" And off Oliver went, to find a new home. He looked at every icky alleyway, and dodged every foot of the pedestrians as they ran to wherever they needed to go. Only one alleyway he found looked perfect. Things were finally turning around for Oliver, he had found a missing brick under a small ripped tarp, and used that as his home. He then found a little bit of cloth, and an almost empty matchbox with 3 matches left. He used the matchbox as a bed and created a tiny fire with the torch to keep warm. He slept great that night. As Oliver woke up, he thought "Maybe now that I have a home, I should make a small map around my area. Yeah, that's a good idea!" He found a wrinkled piece of paper under the beating sun, and used it as his map with a small piece of one of the match heads as a pencil. He first mapped out his alleyway, and labeled it "Home". Then he peeked out into the street and saw a store, and he labeled that "Food Source". Then a problem struck him; how to cross the street? He thought and thought and thought until he realized he was getting hungry and the sun was going down so he needed to act fast to get some food from that store. As he was about to decide on something, he got swooped up by a bird! He screamed for help, but by this point he was across the street on top of the store. His eyes being closed from fear, he opened them slowing and the bird said "Oh! I'm sorry to scare you, I was just trying to help you get to the other side!" Oliver said "And you are?" the bird feeling bad "Ah, I'm Benjamin! Who are you?" he said a little less scared "I'm Oliver." Benjamin said "Hey, do you need to get some food from that store?" Oliver said "Yes, I actually do... can you help me please?" Benjamin replied "Oh of course! One moment..." Oliver being still slightly jolted from the whole situation, sat down and took a minute to breath and contemplate what just happened. Birds usually wanted to eat him, so it was a new thing for Oliver. Benjamin returned with a whole 8oz steak! Oliver was stunned yet also excited. He hadn't eaten in days. Oliver said "Thank you so so so much! Can we please bring this back to my home? Or maybe you can show me your home?" Benjamin said "Oh uh... I... I don't have a home. B-but we can go to your place... heh!" Oliver replied to him "Oh... No problem, you can live with me!" Benjamin feeling joyful then said "Yay! Thank you for your kindness, wanna be friends?" Oliver said "Of course!" ...[Time Skip 3 Years]... 3 years later, the mouse and the bird are still living a happy life. Oliver continued his search for his family but when he finally found his owner and home, the owner just said "Shoo! You dirty rodent! Ugh the New York apartments...." Oliver went back to Benjamin after that experience and said "They have forgotten me..... I mean after all of these years I will still have no family.. and I.. I... I don't know what to do... I-" Oliver started tearing up and becoming panicked but Benjamin stepped in and said "Hey, hey buddy! Its gonna be alright I promise you! You know what, I know what's fun. Why don't we look at just anybody on the street and pretend what they are doing today. I'll go first hmmm see that guy over there?" Oliver slightly calming down says "Y-yes.." Benjamin continues "I think that they are.... going to a yoga class because they are embarrassed they cant do a cartwheel!" Oliver starts to smile and laughs. Benjamin says "Hey look at me!" he then precedingly tries to do a cartwheel and humorously fails. Oliver is now wiping the tears from his face and laughing. Benjamin says "There you go... hey. I will be your best friend forever through thick and thin. You can trust me on that one there pal, I don't even have any other friends to go to haha!" Oliver responds "Thank you so much, I will be your best friend forever too. We will always be the mouse and the bird." Benjamin then finishes "Hey! After all, you are 'Oliver the Great' right?" And that was the story of the mouse and the bird! I worked really hard on it and I hope you enjoyed it ! :D Thanks for reading :].
