Her brother Seicho was supposed to be the next successor of the legendary blade "Frostbite" that has been passed down in her family for years. Despite knowing this Khione still practiced harshly in hopes of potentially being able to overtake her brother in the Art of the Sword. One fateful day after she had just finished her training, her mother asked her to prepare a boat to go fishing the next day. But little did she know there would be no next day, as later that day a demon named Ragna Kazan (volcano demon" attacked. He was the perfect counter to all the warriors of the village due to his heat being so strong that he would melt everything he stood on. He was a demon so strong that he was only second to Muzan. But he was virtually unknown because Yoriichi had attacked Muzan right after creating Kazan, and after the attack Muzan had just assumed Yoriichi had killed him. But Kazan was able to just parry the attack and run. He made it all the way across Asia to the Arctic where he killed everyone besides Khione whom her brother had died protecting. Her brother was able to fend the demon off long enough for Khione to get in the boat they had prepared and escape. With his dying breath Seicho threw the sword to Khione and said "Go to Japan. Train with the Hashiras and avenge us." Khione promised her brother this and fought her way against demons across Asia where she was eventually discovered by Giyu Tomioka.
