"How many guesses do I get 'til only one of you is left? You're quite the same." --- Approx. Time: 1 Hour Meet Daybreak Waltz and Moonlit Sonata, two talented, high class ponies from Canterlot who are extremely talented and famous for their skills. The two often travel to Germane (Germany) and Prance (France) together for concerts and such. Oh, and they are also the first generation of Yin and Yang killers. Moonlit Sonata and Daybreak Waltz, although passing down their sadistic sides to their children, were actually completely aware of what they were doing UNLIKE their children. They were fairly normal and were completely conscious of their crimes, unlike the second generation of Yin and Yang who were simply insane. Moonlit Sonata was a talented pianist and violinist. Daybreak Waltz was a talented dancer and actor. Here is the full version of Bitter Rose's speech about her 'family': "Thirty years ago, two murderers known as Yin and Yang terrorized the country (Daybreak and Moonlit). Their victims were found so maimed and disfigured that they were nearly unrecognizable. The two had never been identified at that point, and all the police could do to recognize the killings were through the marks of a Yin and Yang symbol, burned into the victims' corpses. And yet, even with their sadistic deeds, they two still felt emotion… And fell in love. The result? Twins. The younger son, Blanc Splatter, was the pride of his family. Growing up with psychotic tendencies, he showed no care nor caution for his actions. The daughter, Black Quill, however, was distant from her parents. All she wished for was normal life, which, in the end, was a wish never granted. (Fun Fact: She went to school w/ Bloodshot and actually had a crush on him.) To the world, the villains had disappeared, but the investigation continued. Caught up with raising a new generation of Yin and Yang, the couple became lazy in cleaning up the crime scenes. The world’s most wanted murderers had been caught. (Silver Badge was the detective who captured them.) During the arrest, Black Quill went into a panic, grabbing the closest weapon. One shot, one bloody death, was all it took to send her on the path to insanity. (This is Lavender that she kills, BTW.) Once the bullet escaped its chamber, she gathered her wits, took her twin brother, and fled the scene. Later on, post traumatic stress disorder would cultivate her into the monster she had always feared. (Referring to the creation of the second generation of Yin and Yang killers.) No one has ever located them to this day. To postpone execution and plan an escape from prison, the original Yin had already begun to carry a third foal. In the end, the two were never able to carry out their plan. Their youngest daughter was born in the prison hospital. Within a year, the foal was sent to a local orphanage… And the parents’ death sentences were carried out. That very same daughter, Grey Nightingale, is me. (Referring to Bitter Rose's original name before she changed it.) Yes, I understand that both generations of the Yin and Yang have stolen from you. They have taken your friends, your loved ones, but although my siblings and I share the same flesh and blood, we are not family. Family is defined by love, not looks or bloodline. Black Quill, Blanc Splatter, I know that you are listening to this broadcast. You are incapable of love, yet mark my words, this world is under my protection now, for I know care. I know love. I am the daughter of the Yin and Yang. I am Grey Nightingale. I am R. I am the world’s greatest detective. I am the world’s protector. I am Bitter Rose. And by the time I’m done with you… … The world will remember me as justice!"
