This is Chapter 1 of a book I'm writing. Lyra is the crown princess of Aetheris and a week before her coronation she gets into a carriage accident. Turns out her sister, Stella orchestrated the accident. Lyra is saved by a thief named Jax. Lyra teams up with Jax to try to get her throne back. For the record I haven't gone through and edited any of this so this is only the first draft! there's also a chance i might discontinue this cuz i can never finish a wip so yeah, but for now im still working on this!
Chapter One- Lyra Lyra was in the grass, her blood pooling around her. Her once white dress was now stained red. She vaguely remembered the carriage crash, the driver making a sharp turn and the carriage crashing into the trees. Lyra couldn’t believe that her twin sister, Stella orchestrated this entire thing. But all evidence pointed to it. Lyra’s breathing grew more and more labored as she tried to recall the events from earlier that day. That morning Lyra had planned to take a carriage trip, she much preferred horse riding but the advisors that took control of the kingdom after Lyra’s mother, the queen, died bearing the twins, insisted that carriage was much safer. It was a week before Lyra was supposed to be crowned queen of Aetheris. Taking brief trips away from the castle helped her clear her mind. Stella had been acting a bit suspicious all day. She was overly dramatic, usual for Stella, but the last few words she told Lyra before she left made sense now. “It would be dreadful if you get into an accident,” Stella had said dramatically, fanning herself with her hand. Lyra had thought Stella was stating facts or wishing her well on her trip, but the driver of the carriage was closely acquainted with Stella. Stella had always been slightly jealous of how Lyra was crown princess. Lyra wheezed as she lost more and more blood. This is the end she thought to herself. As Lyra drifted into unconsciousness she saw a dark figure. Oh great… things can’t get any worse! Lyra saw the figure kneel beside her before everything went black.
