Did you know that Christmas trees actually come from the pagan holiday Yule? That’s right, one of the traditions from a Christian holiday, is actually originally from a pagan/Wiccan one! Pagans bring evergreens indoors during the winter solstice to celebrate one of the only plants that lives on during the winter! It’s makes you wonder, what other superstitions and traditions come from paganism? Well, let me tell you a few! 1- opening umbrellas indoors is bad luck. - this superstition comes from Egypt where umbrellas were used as protection from the sun. Using them indoors was said to anger the Sun Gods, and bring a curse to one’s home. 2- wishing on birthday candles- candles are a BIG part of Wicca, and wishing on the smoke brings wishes to the Gods! 3- covering your yawn - this is more of a second nature than a superstition, because nobody wants to see inside your mouth, but it originated as a superstition because yawns were thought to be your soul leaving your body! Interesting, huh? 4- it’s bad luck to break a mirror- in Wicca and paganism, mirrors are powerful portals, and breaking one is incredibly dangerous because it unleashes any forces on the other side. So, wether you believe it or not, PLEASE try not to break any.
No hate please, all facts here are true. And if anyone tries to tell me that witchcraft is evil, thank you for your opinion, you can keep it.
