I loved this idea, so I decided to bring Hazel to Kingswood's XC course for some off-season schooling. This course was really, really challenging, so luckily I decided to bring a schoolmaster (and the eventing grease!). 1- The first question was a super tall step table. Hazel's naturally an overjumper, so she took this one really well. 2- I'm not exactly sure what the official name was for the next fence, but it almost caused an accident. Hazel didn't really jump long enough, so the landing was really tricky. 3- The next question was a nice gallopy coop, this one was easy and Hazel soared right over it. 4- The first brush top fence was really tricky, as it was on a slice. Luckily we cleared it, but we almost knocked the flags! 5- The next brush top was a little easier, but still on a bend. 6- This roll top would have been easy if it wasn't on the bottom of a hill. I got left behind on this jump as we trotted it, but oh well. 7- Next was a super thin keyhole. I almost got hit on the head, but Hazel jumped it well. 8- Then another really tall step table. 9- A really cute but equally tall brush lined slant top was next. Hazel had a little bit of trouble and we got a bad stride due to the slice before the jump. 10- Next was a little log pile! Super simple and easy, and Hazel didn't mind the hill after. 11- Another log pile, but into the water. A little more challenging, but Hazel did well! 12- Terrifying bank out of the water was next. We had to trot this one, luckily we were fine! 13- Another roll top, but on level ground so we found this one fairly easy. 14- Much easier bank that we were able to canter. 15- Another brush lined slant top, but right to a steep hill. Hazel thought it was great, I didn't. 16- Final question, a wider keyhole. Later, I decided to take Dancer, our pony in training, out to do some of the easier questions (3, 9, and 11). She did fairly well, but certainly had her moments.
