Chapter 17-The Path of Bliss A ray of sunlight shone brightly on Rosalia's face, waking her up. She cracked her eyes open and stared out the window for a few seconds. "This is the last day of the Christmas break..." she mumbled under her breath. She would've been glad, but she wasn't. This was because she had to stay in her dorm the whole day and having class in her own dorm didn't seem the same as actual classes. Just then, the corner of her eye caught sight of a faint glow. She turned her head toward her nightstand and saw her pocket mirror glowing. "Another Research Class?" she said. She got dressed and quickly ran off to the headmaster's office. When she arrived at the griffin-shaped door, Professor McGonagall arrived. "Good morning, Miss Estelle," she greeted, "Now let me open that for you. Sherbet lemon!" The griffin door shifted and they both went down the spiral staircase. When she finally arrived at the bottom, she saw all the professors there. "Good morning, Miss Estelle," Dumbledore said, "Now, will you please sit here?" He pointed to a chair and Rosalia sat on it. Snape stepped forward; he was going to go into her mind again. To be frank, she never liked Snape. He constantly criticized her work and called her "self-centered" But she had to clear those thoughts, if Snape found out, she'd be in trouble. She had to relax. She took a deep breath as Snape pointed his wand at her. A bright light swallowed her whole. When she opened her eyes, she was in a completely different place: a path. The path was colored a light peach and the sky was oddly white. There were big trees that were neatly arranged beside the path. She took a step, and another. After a few minutes of walking, she saw her adoptive parents. They joined her and followed her from behind. After another few minutes, she saw her friends: Ariana, Luna, Everleigh, Myst, Terry, Anthony, Jacqueline, and many others. They, too, joined the walk. After yet another few minutes, she saw objects. They were books, quills, every object she loved. They also joined the walk. Nothing and no one else joined the walk. But after a long walk, she saw a bend. She rounded the bend and saw a faint light. As she approached it, the light grew brighter, and brighter. At last, she was only a few inches away from it. She took another step and she was blinded by the bright light. When she opened her eyes, she saw herself back in the headmaster's office. "Miss Estelle," Dumbledore said as he gently pushed Snape aside and taking a step forward, "That is what I will call "The Path of Bliss". And I make my point that you will not be in need to stay in your dorm," At those words, Rosalia widened her eyes, but then, she realized something. "Oh, uh, sir," she said, "That means I won't be needing this, then," she pulled out the pocket mirror. "Oh, no," Dumbledore replied calmly, "You may keep that as a...souvenir," he winked, "Now, off you go," She stood up and shoved the pocket mirror back into her pocket, and ran off. She walked through the halls to find Ariana, but met someone else. "Myst!" she said. "Lia! It's been such a long time!" She was about to tell her about the whole thing, but remembered that she was only allowed to tell three people of her choices, and unfortunately, she hadn't met Myst yet. "I've got to meet someone else now," she said, "See you, Myst," She walked off and looked at her watch: breakfast. So, Ariana must've been at the Great Hall. She ran off to the Great Hall and saw the four house tables. She took a seat in the middle of Everleigh and Luna. "Where were you?" Luna asked. She turned to Everleigh Even though Everleigh technically wasn't in her three choices, she knew that Everleigh would never tell anybody else, so she told them both. And she was a Legillimens, so she already knew. She told them every single detail of the "Path of Bliss" and commented on every single one. "Wow, that was extraordinary," Luna mumbled. After breakfast, she ran off to Ariana, who was about to leave the Great Hall. "Ariana!" she said, 'I've got to something to tell you!" She then repeated the same thing she told Everleigh and Luna. "Yes!" Ariana excitedly said, "We can see each other again!" "Exactly! And I can get to class normally!" "And you can watch my Quidditch matches!" "And go to the library whenever I want!" "And—" "You know what?" Rosalia said, "Let's do all that now!" "Great idea!" replied Ariana. In the library, Rosalia whispered to Ariana, "You know, usually, I would look forward to classes again. But now, I wish the holidays were longer. If it were, I'd be able to enjoy more of this!" *** The next morning, Rosalia woke up early; it was time to get ready for class. She put her robes on and went straight to the Great Hall for breakfast. She took a seat and plopped a scoop of porridge into her bowl. As she ate, an owl fell into her bowl. "Errol!" a boy said. (Rest in the notes & credits)
She turned around to see a red haired boy "Sorry," he said, "That owl's practically unreliable. It's supposed to go to the Gryffindors' table, not the Ravenclaws'," "It's alright," Rosalia said as the boy leaned over to pick the owl up. "You old owl!" she heard the boy mutter. After that, she didn't feel like eating "owl porridge", as she called it. She pushed it aside to go to her first class: History of Magic. When she entered the classroom, she saw not many students there; they were resting their head in their folded arms, preparing themselves for the class ahead. After a while, other students started showing up, and finally, Professor Binns. He started his speech on the "Gargoyle Strike of 1911" and most of the class slept. All except Rosalia. She was glad. Glad that for the first time in what seemed a million years, she could go back to a regular class. ✧✦✧ Author's note: One more chapter, and year one is finished!
