Computer: To craft, click on your item (don't drag it), and the item will follow your mouse. Then, click on the spot where you want to place your item. The item hotbar should show up again. Mobile: To craft, click on the item, and let go, (don't drag) and tap on the spot where you want to place the item. You will know that the item is placed on the square when the hotbar item menu shows up again to grab more items. When crafting items like swords, crafting is performed in the center of the bench. When crafting something vertical, two things go in the middle. Because of lag, some methods of crafting may not be accessible. To reset, Click the green flag. Make sure to comment if an item that's craftable with the items shown isn't shown.
