°B°o°n°u°s° °C°h°a°p°t°e°r° *Nikki’s POV bc I need change* I walked outside of the Gryffindor common room, waiting for Anna. “Oh, hey Nikki, whatcha doing here?” Stephanie asked me. “Waiting for Anna.” “What are you two doing though?” /Darn it. Why does this always happen to me?/ I thought to myself. “There’s a Winter Ball, it’s kinda like the Yule Ball last year,” I explained. Steph nodded. “Is Logan going to be there? Logan Black?” “Uhm… I don’t know, I haven’t talked to him in a while.” Anna came rushing down the stairs with her cranberry bun that I helped her dye yesterday. “Oh, you two look so perfect,” Steph said. Anna and I laughed. “Yeah, and you’re not,” I said sarcastically. “Well, we should get going now.” “Yeah, see ya later girl,” Anna said, racing off to the Great Hall. “ANNALYN MARLENE POTTER, YOU GET BACK HERE!” I screamed, staying in my place as Anna came back, walking this time, to where I was. “Just seeing if you were going to follow me and try to catch up.” I rolled my eyes with a fond smile on my face. “No chance. I have no idea how you ran in those shoes.” Then, we walked, laughing, to the Great Hall. We spotted Ginny and a boy sitting at was normally the Hufflepuff table, but I guess House seating didn’t matter tonight. “Nikki, Anna, over here!” Ginny called out, putting her hand up so we could see her. I smiled at her and Anna sat down on Ginny’s left, me on the far left. “Who’re you?” Anna asked the boy. “That’s Michael Corner,” Ginny said. “Oh okay.” Anna and I glance at each other, smirking slightly. The staff was seated how they normally were, and I pouted when I saw Umbridge had come. “What?!” Ginny exclaimed a bit too loudly, because a few kids at what was normally the Gryffindor table looked over at us like we were crazy when I pointed it out. Dumbledore raised out of his chair and all the talking faded away. “Welcome! Now I don’t have much to say, as you would most likely rather get the ball started than listen to an old man, me,—” there was some small laughter from the hall “— ramble. So, let it begin!” He sat down again as the students and staff clapped while the lights went down. **time jump to about a few hours or so later** “Hey, Nikki, I’ll be right back, okay?” Anna said to me, bouncing on the tips of her toes. How she did it, I don’t know. “’Kay ’kay,” I replied. “Thanks.” Anna walked quickly out of the hall. I go and find a bench to sit down and rest for once on. “Merlin’s beard… this thing’s popular,” I muttered to myself as a clan of about seven people walked by me. “Nikki, what’re you doing by //yourself//?” someone asked me, sitting next to me. I squinted to see who it was in the dark. “Anna went to the bathroom,” I explained to who was Cami with Ron, who looked tired. /Probably went as siblings like us/ I thought silently. “No, she’s over there!” Camille said, pointing to a dark corner, talking and laughing with some guy. “What?!” I exclaimed. “She said she was going to the bathroom! Not going to see some kid! What is this… I don’t even know what to call it!” “Nikki, calm down,” Ron said, and he yawned. “How in the name of Merlin’s beard do you have this energy?” I narrowed my eyes to try and look for who Anna was talking to. “Hey, Cami, could you and talk with Anna and whoever-he-is for a second or two and try to get a look at that kid? Or maybe just pass by them?” I asked, anxious to know who he was. “Yeah, sure, Ron, just stay here.” And she walked over to them nonchalantly. “She can tell me what do to and I can’t her?” We waited a few minutes for Camille to come back over, but she took a long while, so it ended up being around thirty. She came back with an expression as if she was trying to hide something. “Nikki… don’t be mad at Anna if I tell you… stuff,” she said cautiously. “Why would I…? Never mind, what it is?” “Tell me you won’t be mad at Anna, I said, got me?” She sounded so grim, dark… who— //what// could’ve that kid been? “I promise. Who is he?” She hesitated. “Nikki… I’m pretty sure… he looks like… are you positively sure you won’t turn on Anna?” “Camille, who is he? If he’s a child of a Death Eater or something, I’ll talk to her, but who is he?” I questioned, shaking my head. “He… looks like Logan.” I laughed. “Logan? Logan Black? She doesn’t hang out with him.” “No, but it really looks like him.” I looked over, smiling slightly. Trying to find them, my eyes search around the room. /Just where they were before./ I squinted and eyed the boy. Same shaggy dark brown hair. Same smile. I felt my face fall. “I didn’t know he was going to be here…. He could’ve at least told me….” I mumbled. /Or asked me to this thing./ I thought to myself miserably. “See you tomorrow, Cami, maybe you too Ron. Cami, tell Anna I left.” I stood up, and Cami grabbed my wrist. “Nikki, you can’t let a little thing like—” “You don’t understand!” My eyes felt like they were burning. I needed to get out of here. Somewhere safe. ( continued )
( continued ) Somewhere where I won’t be thrown away like a used soda can. “Nikki…. Why would I not understand?” She looked slightly hurt, but that was nothing compared to what I was feeling. “Camille, have you ever felt like someone has used you just to make themselves happy, then once they were happy enough to go on, they left you in the dust?” I said angrily. “Well, no—” “That’s the whole point! Listen, I’m going back to my House’s common room, and… I don’t know what yet, but something.” Instead of going to the Slytherin common room, I headed toward where Anna told me she was going. /My. Little. Sister. Just. Lied. To. Me./ When I got to a deserted corridor, by Moaning Myrtle’s stall, I locked myself in the stall next to her. “Who’s that?” Myrtle’s high-pitched voice called. “A ballroom escaper, who was lied to and was used.” “Are you actually doing anything in there?” she asked me. “No.” Myrtle flew into the stall. “It’s okay. I don’t personally know how it feels, but I can tell something’s wrong. What is it?” “Myrtle…. I just wanna be left alone for a minute or two. We can talk tomorrow.” “Okay.” As she flew out of the locked stall, my eyes began to blur and I knew I was starting to cry. /No. Don’t cry. Crying is for Ravenclaws like Cho Chang. Steel yourself./ And I did. “Tomorrow, Myrtle?” I asked her, coming out of the place. “Sure. I’m glad at least /someone/ doesn’t think I’m weird.” “Why would someone think you’re weird? I think you’re perfectly normal.” “//That// is the nicest thing anyone— especially a Slytherin— has said to me in fifty years.” “Not all Slytherins are evil,” I said. “Bye girl.” I walked out and went to the Slytherin common room to spend the rest of the night reading my Potions textbook, which always made me feel like someone cared. Don’t know //why// it made me feel better, but it was a weird kind of escapism. ____________________ Sadly, it would ruin my fanfic to make Nikki an Obscurial ( if you don’t know what that is, you are a huge No-Maj, and hurry up and watch Fantastic Beasts ), so I couldn’t make her one :/ **Anna’s supposed to have dark red hair, not dark brown, I couldn’t find a bun with reddish-black hair** I WAS TOLD THIS WAS IN ORDER OF THE PHOENIX SO IM RESTRAINING MYSELF FROM PUTTING TONKS IN THIS FIVE BAZILLION TIMES Song is Moral of the Story by Ashe and I made it clean Btw, if you were wondering, Nikki and Anna went together as sisters/friends.
