Art Class . 005. Contents [1] Lesson [2] Homework [3] Grades [4] Other Art Class . 005 . Lesson Welcome to lesson 5! Today we will be going over shading! I find shading fun, but others may find it hard. Remember that color wheel back in old lesson 1? Well, I hope you remembered it like I said to! It will be quite crucial to this lesson. First, we will go over the colors for lighting and shading. You must first find the color of the light, which usually is a lighter yellow or orange, for the sun. Shadows come in the opposite color of its light source. Most shadows are a vibrant, dark blue. When doing lighting and shading, make sure to determine your light source. This is crucial to making your art look more professional. When it is sunset/rise, you can use a much brighter orange and more desaturated blue. This also goes for other strong lighting. Here is an example of art I made with Krita showing shading. The light was pale blue, so the shadows were orange. Lighting comes from the top left, so light appears more in that direction. Shadows appear in the bottom right in an orangish color. In bitmap, shading is quite a bit harder, However, it is still possible. Some people just take the light color and put it on top. This method does work, but there are other ways. One way is to get all the colors shaded, then take the shaded areas separately. Fill all with the color and nothing as a gradient. (shift + click) The finished product is much neater than the other version. Some tips for shading in Krita! Use the grey brush and apply some color in a separate layer (one for lighting and one for shading). The grey brush is called Basic-4 Flow Opacity, can be found in the Digital tag. Use the q-tip and blend. Lower the layer's opacity as needed. Art Class . 005 . Homework Homework for today is to make a scene with atleast one character and shade. 1. Make a scene. Include atleast one character. Shade. Show versions with and without shading. Art Class . 005 . Grades Rabin: Due on 1/28/25 @pikachow9375: Cloudy Sun! The shadows on the tree were a bit mixed, and it was hard to see quite a bit of the lighting. But otherwise, nice! Sharky: Cloudy Sun! The shadows followed the sun, but lighting did not follow its light source. Minnow: Sun! The lighting was a bit hard to see. Also, you can blend out the shadows aswell (if you wish). : Blackout! The principal will be alerted of the fact you are not completing lessons, and you may receive detention. Art Class . 005 . Other Now, be ready! Next week is a test, so you should study! I will know if you cheat by looking back on the lessons, so I recommend you don't. Recommend things you want to learn how to draw.
