Gosh, I can’t believe 2024 is about to be over. (And it already is in some timezones…) ‘Twas a pretty good year for me, and art wise, I think it has brought much improvement! Most notably, I have done a /lot/ of studies and experimenting, which has boosted both my abilities and confidence! :D I did, like, a metric ton of traditional art this year, so I think my goal for 2025 is to get back into digital art and improve in that field. (Especially color. I’m bad a color.) My two cents on each piece: (click, space, arrows, etc.) January - An experimental piece; ocs. I was mostly fooling around with the coloring. Their faces now seem a little squished. :p Even though the lighting is a little nonsensical, I still particularly love the sliver of light on the sword’s blade. However, methinks the entire hilt needs to be bigger, and it perhaps also suffers from a boring design… Hmmmm (Must. have. cool. swords.) February - Experimenting with a monotone color palette; oc, Hunter. He looks a little like a bobblehead now. Hair is also wonky as all get out (okay, not that much, but still) March - Doodle; oc, Chip. In retrospect, I thought this looked great. In hindsight, … erm, not so much. Face anatomy is kind of awkward. April - Redraw of a frame from Titanic with a Cat. Still happy with this. Probably my first real study-type thing. May - Goofy drawing of my sim. His hair is … very large, but also, like, that’s his character design, so whatever. June - Inspired by the pictured lyrics from The Wisp Sings by Winter Aid; oc. Still looks a-okay to me! (If not a little boring) July - Something I drew on a whim; oc, Vincent. I really like this one. :D except his knife is facing the wrong direction. I am literal garbage at drawing weaponry placed correctly. August - Very random experimental doodle. (Pencil over marker??.?) Still, I like the stylization (No, I am not going to talk about the Hunter-crab.) September - Costuming sheet page thing for my oc Lisa! Aka, Hail discovers she still knows how to use colors digitally - kind of. There is hope for me yet. Also trying out lineless. October - Here is my Milo Thatch stash (Thatch stash? Kind of rhymes). I feel like this itself is a mini-documentary of my improvement in replication and studies. (Not finished lol, given by that one sketch on the bottom) colors are also picked straight from the original frames, so it’s not like I actually put any thought into improving that severely unpracticed part of my art. November - Lol. I love this silly doodle with all my heart. Same character as March, Chip, (edgy-ified. Was feeling silly), so perhaps there has been some improvement in side profiles (who actually knows because I really haven’t studied them lol) December - Slightly amended redraw … of a scene from Despicable Me 2, with my ocs Jack and Chip. (Guac hat part - “I’m just chilling … with the guac … from my chip hat”). I’m going to draw out the rest of the scene, but I just finished this part (didn’t write in the words yet) the other day, so this is all I’ve got. Overall, I’m pleased with it and think it’s a good representation of my art, but Chip’s face was giving me grief, so his eyes are kinda wonky. I didn’t really have a good light to flip the canvas the old fashioned (*cough* traditional art *cough*) way with! Anyway, I can’t wait to see the shenanigans my art gets up to in 2025! Happy New Years y’all! :D
