His father died when he was a pup due to an avalanche when he was bringing lumber. Oskar was born into a family of 5 sisters and 1 brother, as he was the oldest. From the time he was a year old (dog years), he helped out his mother as a lumberjack due to not having a father to take care of them. One day, while Oskar was finishing up the stock, a dog named Parsley came up to him. Threatened Oskar bared his fangs saying, “Who are you and what do you want?” The lean, male dog looked down and said, “My apprentice died because of pneumonia, and i am looking to recruit.” Oskar looked at him and was about to say no but thought about his family and headed to his family to talk. His mother objected this but Oskar told her it could help their family. He then left the next dawn without permission. His mother standing outside in the cold told him she could not change his mind and wrapped around a robe almost like a scarf around his fluffy neck. She looked up at him and said, “This was your father’s please stay strong and he will guide you.” Oskar thanked his mother and headed off. The lean dog, Parsley, continued Oskar’s training in a warmer area, near France. Oskar worked until he was 3 years old under Parsley and headed home to visit his family. Once he headed home he was heartbroken to see that his home was taken. He padded at the door and there opened another family. Tears filled his eyes as the male dog went to him. He recieved information that the family living here before was on a journey to surprise their son, Oskar, and died due to an avalanche which wiped out the nearby town. Oskar was heartbroken. Oskar visited the house every week to restore his memories. The male dog who helped him, Dahlia, ended up going with Oskar and marrying him in France. To this day, Oskar is heartbroken but he knows his mother would be proud of the lumberjack she raised.
