Chapter 20–Diagon Alley An eerie silence filled the room. "What do you want, Elliana?" Aunt Caroline broke the silence. "Isn't it obvious, Carol? It's to bring my daughter back," "Nonsense!" Aunt Caroline said, shocked. "She's perfectly happy here, aren't you, Rosalia?" "Oh, well...umm" "See, Carol? She's not happy!" "Fine! Fine!" Aunt Caroline said, frustrated. "Go with her!" Elliana took Rosalia's arm. "What about my stuff?" Rosalia asked. "Already in the carriage!" "H-how?" "Magic, of course," They got into a carriage, which looked as if it was made of gold. "Why don't we just Apparate?" Rosalia asked. "It's too far, dear," her mother explained. "We'll have to stop at different places and using a carriage is much faster," They sat down, and strangely, the carriage lifted off the ground and started flying at the speed of light. "Will I be able to visit my adoptive parents?" "Of course, dear. They're the ones who raised you anyway." Happiness filled Rosalia, and just then, the carriage stopped and hit the ground. "We're here!" They got off the carriage and stood in front of a mansion, which must've been at least twice as large as Aunt Caroline's. "That's huge!" Rosalia thought. They got inside and she was told to put her stuff down at her room. When she did, she lay on her bed (which was twice as big as hers at Aunt Caroline's) and looked forward to a better half of summer. *** She woke up one morning to a knock at her door. She opened it and saw her mother. "Good morning, Rosalia!" she greeted. "I asked one of our servants to buy this gift for you!" "Oh, you really didn't have to" Her mother revealed what was behind her back: a Screech owl. "Oh, Merlin!" Rosalia said, excitedly. "Thank you so much, Mum!" "It was no problem, dear," and her mother left. Rosalia closed the door and looked at the owl. "What should I name you?" she wondered and had an idea. "What about 'Meadow'?" she looked at the owl. It hooted happily. "I'll take that as a 'yes'" Just then an five owls arrived at the same time. She opened her window sill and let the owls in. The first one was from Ariana. It said: "Dear Lia, I hope your summer's been wonderful! Mine's been alright. But my family doesn't have our House elf anymore; he got freed. But I honestly don't mind. He always wanted to be free. I can't wait for Hogwarts to start again! I'm going to get my schoolbooks at Diagon Alley next week. Maybe we could meet? I hope your Mum's alright with that! Sincerely, Ariana" Rosalia smiled. Ariana knew all about her situation because she sent letters to her every single day. The next one was from Luna. It said: "Dear Lia, I hope your summer's been fun! Mine surely is. My dad and I have been searching for new creatures, and though we haven't had much luck, I'm sure we're getting closer and closer! He's writing all about it in the Quibbler. He says that he's certain that the Crumple-Horn Snorkack isn't a legend and is very real. Though we haven't found any evidence yet. Also, I'm going to Diagon Alley next week! I hope you'll also be there. Sincerely, Luna" Rosalia opened the next letter: Terry's It said: "Dear Rosalia, How's your summer been? Mine's been...OK. There isn't really anything to do during the summer, and I wish I could do some magic. I'm looking forward to going back to Hogwarts, what about you? I hope we can meet at Diagon Alley next week! Sincerely, Terry Boot" She sighed. "Why is everyone going to Diagon Alley next week?" she laughed. The next letter was from Anthony: "Dear Rosalia, My summer's been nice. I've been learning a lot about my family ("Same as me!" Rosalia exclaimed). Did you know that I have American heritage? Also, one of my family members, Queenie Goldstein, was a Legillimens. It's really interesting, and if I had more time, I would write all that I learned to you, but I don't. So I'll tell you next week, when we hopefully meet at Diagon Alley. Sincerely, Anthony Goldstein" The final letter was from Hogwarts. Summarizing the first letter, Rosalia understood that she had to take the Hogwarts Express at King's Cross station on September the first, which was only two weeks away. The second one was the list of all the schoolbooks she would need. She read it and decided to ask her mum if she could go to Diagon Alley the next week. *** Rosalia had just entered Diagon Alley when her mum's eyes narrowed to Madam Malkin's Robes for All Ocassions. "Goodness," her mum said. "I really do need some new robes. You go on shopping, Rosalia and I'll go there for just a bit," She handed Rosalia the pouch containing the money she would need. Then, her mum hurried off to the shop, leaving Rosalia alone. She decided to go to Flourish and Blotts first, but she was so absorbed in Diagon Alley's beauty that she bumped into a woman with red hair. "I am so sorry!" (Rest in the Notes & Credits)
"No need to say sorry, dear," the woman said. Rosalia had just realized that her children were behind her—one of them, she realized, was the boy who owned the owl that crashed into her bowl of porridge. It seemed that the boy recognized her, too. "Hey," he said. "Aren't you the Ravenclaw girl whose porridge Errol fell into?" "Umm...yeah..." "Oh." He said. "I'm Ron Weasley. And this is Percy, Fred and George, and Ginny." "You're Ron Weasley?" Rosalia asked. "The boy who's friends with Harry Potter and came to Hogwarts with a flying car last year?" "Yeah....Well, speaking of Harry, I got to find him and Hermione. Bye!" Almost everyone left, except the girl whose name was "Ginny" "What's your name?" Ginny asked. "Rosalia Estelle," "Well, you already know my name's Ginny. It's Ginerva, actually, but people just shorten it." "People call me 'Lia'" "Shall we be friends?" "Sure!" "Great!" Ginny replied. "Well, I've got to catch up with my family. See you at Hogwarts!" Rosalia was about to go into Flourish and Blotts, but saw someone else that caught her attention— "Ariana, Luna, Myst!" she said, running over. "How have you been?" "Good!" they all answered. They started talking all about their summer, when Terry and Anthony appeared. "Now this is exciting!" Anthony said. After shopping for all her things, Rosalia went home with her mum, and looked forward to another year at Hogwarts. ✧✦✧ Author's note: Next chapter, is Year 2! Credits: Thanks to J.K.
