[ NewWorld ] Part 1: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1092693871/ Part 2: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1097547335/ Part 3: You are here An original story by PokemonGL17569 ... It's finally time for the climax. NewWorld has reached its end. I hope you enjoyed this story with me. I told myself a while ago that I wouldn't be making a comic or story on Scratch because I thought it would be too much work. As you know, I was wrong. The story started as one of the many stories I have in my head. When I had a assignment for my English class to write a story about 1000 words long(its actually 1900 xd), I had no ideas until I jumped on the idea of NewWorld being actually written out. It took a while, but I finished it in time. I also decided to post it on Scratch because I felt like it. Yes, all three parts of NewWorld have been done for a while, but I've been rather lazy lately. So here it is: the end of NewWorld! Note: Inner thinking is asterisks, like this: *I am awesome.* Thats all! (Story in Notes and Credits)
[[WARNING: A character d!es in this chapter. There's no blo0d, but it is still quite sad. I'd prefer you didn't read this if you don't think you can handle it.]] Part 3 05:16:27:47 POST HYPERDRIVE COMMENCEMENT D H M S Four days later, Victor rushed into the control room. “Alvin, there’s something new on the radar heading rapidly towards PHRPS[1228] c.” He quickly added, “It looks like an asteroid.” Alvin replied with, “Show me. Now.” They walked to the monitoring room. “Yep, thats an asteroid all right.” The green blip was far away, but at the rate it was moving, it would be here in a few hours. “Do you think it might hit the NewWorld, Alvin?” Victor asked. “It’s not outside the range of possibility. I want to make sure we could make a quick getaway with the ion engines if we have to.” “But the ions-” “Are damaged,” Alvin finished for him. “So I have to get Sarra fixing them. I’m gonna go find her.” As he rushed out of the room he added, “You keep tracking it!” “This is crazy, Alvin,” Sarra once Alvin had brought to the screen where the asteroid loomed. “This asteroid will be here in two hours. I can’t fix it by then.” “Listen, Sarra,” Alvin said, the tension building in his voice, “There is a five percent chance that this asteroid will hit the NewWorld in our current position. That is not good odds.” “They’re odds we have to take. Doing a spacewalk on the rear end of the ship- the side that the asteroid is more likely to strike - that could be very dangerous,” Sarra cautioned. “I understand your reasoning, but I don’t think it’s worth the risk.” “You know what I don’t think is worth the risk?” Alvin said, his voice coming out in a hiss. “You know what I don’t think is worth the risk?” he repeated. “I don’t think it’s worth the risk to SIT HERE AND DO NOTHING when there is a 1 in 20 chance THAT ALL WE HAVE LEFT IS DESTROYED. So I STRONGLY SUGGEST you should go up and repair the ions. GOT IT?” Sarra’s face turned pale. “All right.” She stared at him with a piercing gaze. “But I think you are making a big mistake here.” With that, she walked to the airlock. As she walked away, Alvin couldn’t shake the feeling that something terrible was about to happen. 05:18:42:59 POST HYPERDRIVE COMMENCEMENT D H M S “Two minutes till asteroid impact!” Victor cried. “Got it” was Alvin’s only response. He was distracted by a camera showing Sarra doing her repairs. She had no tether to the ship, Alvin noticed. *Two minutes… Why hasn’t she come in yet?* He could see the asteroid behind her now, as a tiny gray spot in the distance, but it was growing larger by the second. *She said she would come in if there wasn’t time!* But Sarra seemed unaware that the asteroid was looming closer and closer. “Will it hit us?” Alvin asked with anxiety. “I’d say about fifty-fifty. If it doesn’t hit us, it’ll come awfully close.” Victor sounded worried too. “Is she on her way in yet? ‘Cause she has to come in like, right now.” He glared at Alvin. “No…” The asteroid loomed closer and closer. But Sarra, busy with her welding, never saw it coming. He could see it now. A huge mass of rock half the size of their ship. It was gravitationally affecting the orbit of the NewWorld, pushing it off course, tumbling it around. Knocking Sarra off the ship. Alarms blared, on the ship and in Alvin’s mind as he watched in horror. “Sarra!” he cried. The asteroid slammed into her, flinging her away to be crushed on the surface of the harsh planet below. “It hit her! I have to rescue her! Victor, give me the code for the escape pod.” He frantically ran towards the pod. “We have to make sure the ship is stabilized, Alvin!” “No! We have to save her! We have to…” He trailed off. *Alvin has my full confidence that he can do the right thing and bring us home.* And from that same conversation… *His impulsiveness and anger got us stranded.* *I can do the right thing,* Alvin realized. *But that means that I can’t let my anger and distress rule me.* He stood up and looked at Victor. “I’m sorry for everything,” he said. “Let’s get this ship stabilized.” *I’m sorry to you too, Sarra,* he thought, gazing at PHRPS[1228] c, *I’ll get us home for you. I know we can.*
