Chapter 21-Dementors It was one busy day. Rosalia was going to Hogwarts that exact day, and things at her home were chaotic. Her mum was searching everywhere for her wand, and even though she borrowed Rosalia's to summon it, it strangely didn't appear. But Rosalia had her own problems to deal with. Aunt Caroline was begging her to go back, and constantly sent letters. There were so many letters, that she couldn't find her History of Magic homework. "Goodness..." she said, in a panic. "Where is it?" Just then, she glanced over at her Screech owl, Meadow's cage. She found a paper torn into pieces. She took a piece and saw that it was her History of Magic homework. "Meadow!" she said. "Did you do this?" She got a "hoot" in reply. "You're lucky magic exists." She said. "I'll just fix it on the Hogwarts Express. She took all the pieces of paper, and stuffed it in her bag. She dragged her trunk, took Meadow's cage in her hand, and went down the stairs. She met her mum, who looked very sad. "Mum," she said. "What's wrong?" "I found out that my wand broke!" "How?" "I don't know..." "Well, we better get to King's Cross station." They got into the carriage and sped off to King's Cross. When they arrived, they went through the wall between the number "9" and "10". The Hogwarts Express was already there. "Goodbye, Rosalia!" her mum said. "See you!" "Bye, Mum!" Rosalia got on the train, and searched for an empty compartment, which she didn't find. Instead, she found a compartment filled with Ariana, Luna, and Myst. "Can I sit here?" she asked. "I don't see why not!" Myst replied. "Have you done your homework?" Ariana asked. "Yeah, but my owl's torn my History of Magic essay down. I'll fix it, though!" Rosalia took her wand and the pieces of paper out. She pointed her wand at the paper and said, "Papyrus Reparo!" The paper returned to its original form, un-shredded and perfectly readable. "That's a charming spell!" Luna said. Soon, the train started moving. It was a very fun ride, because they talked about everything and laughed at the funny moments. "My mum kept forgetting that I could change my appearance!" Myst mentioned. "She's always so surprised when I turn my ears into bunny ones! And—" What happened next, Rosalia never knew. Because the train suddenly stopped. "We can't be there yet..." Ariana said. "W-what's happening?" "I don't know," Ariana said. The lamps went out all of a sudden. "I'll ask the compartment next to us." Rosalia suggested. "I'm coming with you." Ariana said. They slid the compartment door open and opened the door of the one next to them. "Hello?" Ariana said to the dark abyss. "Who's that?" "Ariana Malfoy and Rosalia Estelle. Who are you?" "Umm...Ron Weasley..." "Why are you here?" came a girl's voice. "We wanted to ask what happening..." "We don't know, either. But here, sit down." "Oww!" said a boy. Rosalia felt that she heard the voice before. "Sorry. Was that your foot?" "No—" There was a lot of commotion in the compartment, and they were soon joined by Ginny Weasley. Rosalia didn't know how many people were there, but under all the commotion a hoarse voice said, "Quiet!" The voice didn't seem like it was coming from a student, but rather from a man, perhaps a teacher, Rosalia thought. There was suddenly a faint light. It seemed that the hoarse voice belonged to the man, and he was strangely holding a handful of flames. "Stay where you are," he said. Rosalia didn't need to be told to stay in her place, because the next moment, the compartment slid open yet again, only this time, it wasn't a human who opened it: it was a hooded creature. The compartment suddenly became very cold and it floated around. Fear started consuming Rosalia, and before she knew it, she felt that she would be the most pessimistic person in the world. Just then, Harry Potter slid off his seat, making everyone there get consumed by both fear and concern. The professor walked over to him, and pointed his wand toward the hooded creature. "None of us is hiding Sirius Black under our cloaks. Go." But the hooded creature didn't even bother to move a centimetre. The professor muttered something and a silver wisp came out of his wand and the creature went away. Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger immediately rushed to Harry Potter's side. "Harry! Harry! Are you all right?" Finally, to the relief of everyone, Harry Potter sat up. He asked his two friends what happened and they started explaining. Just then, there was a snap that was loud enough to make everyone in the compartment jump. The professor was breaking some chocolate into pieces. It was then that Rosalia realized that on the professor's case, there was his name, "Professor R.J. Lupin". Professor Lupin started handing out the pieces of chocolate to everyone. "What was that thing?" Harry asked. "A dementor," answered Professor Lupin. "One of the dementors of Azkaban," (Rest in N&C)
"Why are they here?" Rosalia asked. "To search for Sirius Black." "Who is that?" "A mvrderer, who is on the run," Then, it all came to Rosalia. The few weeks before, her mum was reading the Daily Prophet when she saw the words "Sirius Black Sighted" She read in a book that Azkaban was a wizard pr!son which was located in an island in the middle of the North Sea. It was heavily guarded, and nobody had escaped it—nobody until Sirius Black had. She took ate the chocolate and said to Ariana, "We better head back to our compartment." "Agreed." And so, they said their see-you-laters to everyone in the compartment and went back to theirs. "What took you both so long?" Myst asked. They started explaining all about the dementor, and every single detail. It took them so long, that by the time they finished, they were already at Hogwarts. She was led to a stagecoach, which was pulled by nothing, so she assumed it was magical. She assumed it was magical until Luna patted the air. "What are you doing?" she asked Luna. "Thestrals are pulling these carriages." "Thestrals?" repeated Rosalia. Luna did believe in many odd creatures, but she never did act like it really was there—that could only mean that— "They are real," Luna said. "Only people who have seen someone take their last breath could see them." "So you've—?" "Yes," she said, a hint of sadness in her eyes. "My mother..." "It's alright if you don't want to talk about it." "My mother was experimenting with spells, and one backfired...and she didn't make it..." "I'm so sorry, Luna," "It's alright. She always said that things we lose have a way of coming back to us in the end. I did lose her, but I know she lives in my heart," They climbed on a stagecoach. "I can't wait for our second year!" Rosalia said. When she saw Hogwarts in the distance, she felt that she was home at last. ✧✦✧ Author's note: Finally! Year 2! Credits: Thanks to J.K. Rowling for the wonderful series!
