Beyond the Border is a Rendog Life Series AU that basically explains his absence for Limited Life and Secret Life in a fun and somewhat watcher lore-y way. Anyway... here is chapter 1 (full lore [without spoilers] coming soon) Ren looked at Box, the wooden face that he and B had lovingly carved burning to the ground. He was dead, a spirit watching helplessly as the world burned around him. The game would be over soon. Once the winner was declared they would all respawn in a new area. All their memories would be gone, all their friendships, alliances, all the pain would be gone. Ren was sick and tired of the games at this point. He turned away from Box, not wanting to witness the carnage anymore. B had left him once more, he went to find Grian one last time. Ren grumble quietly, not that anyone would hear him anyway, B had always chose Grian over him. Ren floated around, wandering through the more unexplored areas of the map, he spotted Martyn and Cleo conversing near Cleo’s base. He considered listening in but decided against it. He floated over to the world border, a wispy cyan blue wall that separated the game area from the rest of the endless world. He placed a ghostly hand up against it, surprised to see it go right through the border. He flinched his hand back towards himself. “Can i… leave?” he asked, his hand drifting back towards the wall. He drifted closer to the border, raising up both hands to it. Like before both hands seamlessly passed through the border. He looked around making sure no one was watching before dipping his whole body through the border. As he did he felt himself fall, landing on a tree, but not taking any damage. He looked behind him. The double life border, the game entirely, was behind him. Inside the border was everything he loved, but also everything he hated the most. He shook his head, his hair puffing up, it was annoying to have it that long. In all honesty he meant to cut it a long time ago but… actually he couldn't remember why he didn't cut it. It was fairly well known that only the winner’s remember the prior seasons of the death games, even then they only remember the season that they won. Ren sighed, he was free. He carefully jumped off of the tree, landing on his feet. He looked behind him once more, “bye guys” he whispered. His breathing steadied as he walked further and further away from the death games. His walk broke into a jog, then into a run. He smiled, feeling the wind in his hair as he ran into a field. Moonlight lit his path as he ran further ahead, not a care in the world besides the path ahead of him and the cool spring breeze that engulfed him. He finally stopped running, pausing in the middle of the field, a smile still on his face. He now realized that he was corporeal again. He gasped, walking towards a pond. As he looked into the water he saw himself for the first time in a while. His red tinted glasses were messy and slightly cracked on one side. A new scar had formed on his head, a large patch of his forehead was scarred over, his hair also covered part of it. It most definitely was from the dripstone that had killed him last. The scar on his neck was still there. He had had that scar all season, as well as a more hidden one on the upper part of his chest. He took off his sunglasses and dipped them in the water, using the bottom part of his button down to clean it. He was wearing a light blue button down, with none of the buttons actually buttoned. He also had a light gray tank top and white pants, with the ends dyed red. He put his glasses back on, they would work for now. His eyes looked… a bit weird to him but it had been a while since he saw his reflection. He heard a noise coming from behind him and he immediately perked up quickly, realising the time. As he looked around he saw a skeleton, bow pointed straight at him. Ren flinched upwards instinctively putting his arms defensively in front of him. He felt an arrow hit right into his arm, he just barely stumbled backwards before running from the mobs that were everywhere. He looked ahead of him, nothing but endless fields. The sun would be up soon, but there would still be a bunch of mobs out. He began to see the sun peek over the horizon, he had gathered some resources and set up in a makeshift cave for the night, he didn't have any wool so he couldn't make a bed, so he spent the rest of the night looking out a small window to see if the sun was out. Once the sun was up he gathered his things and set out again, just exploring. As more days passed he began to wonder about those who were still in the games. Did anyone remember him? He didnt really care, he was glad to be free of those games.
