Press space or click to jump. Press the 0 key to enter the level editor. Move around using the arrow keys. Press the number 1 2 3 and 4 keys to switch tiles. If you want to change the color of the background press the number 4 key until you find a completely red tile. When you place it on the level the game will ask you the color the and brightness of the background.
