✧ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ 1✧ ᴛʜᴇ ᴀᴄᴄᴇᴘᴛɪᴏɴ ʟᴇᴛᴛᴇʀ It was a sunny day, which was rare for the unpleasant Malfoy Manner. A young pretty girl, about the age of eleven, was sitting at the window and reading. She had long wavy blonde hair, piercing blue eyes, pale skin, and was currently wearing a light blue sweatshirt and jeans. She was deeply immersed in her book, and did not even notice the other girl sneaking over to her. All of a sudden, the other girl jumped up and shouted, " Boo!" Melody jumped in surprise and rolled her eyes as she grinned at her twin sister. " Well, I have to say, you got me that time." She said with a laugh. Her sister smirked and looked outside with a sigh. Nova had long black hair with blonde streaks, similar to their mom's hair. She, unlike Melody, had chosen to wear a fancy green dress to please their parents, but Melody couldn't stand wearing dresses all day. Nova looked longingly at the gardens below, and Melody followed her gaze. They looked so beautiful, so inviting, but also, so lonely. Melody loved her sister, but she wished she could know some other girls her age. All her life she had had private lessons at home, and never once had her father let her go anywhere near the other girls from the wizarding families that lived around her. " They'll make you look poor, and you come from a wealthy and powerful family. So, you need to make a good impression and be friends with your equals." He had said. She had just nodded, not wanting to make him mad. " It's our birthday, and all we get to do is have a fancy dinner with all the wealthy pureblood wizarding families with the snobby kids." Melody complained. As they both continued to look out the window, Draco suddenly ran down the stairs. He was thirteen now, and his blonde hair was smoothed and good looking, Melody thought it looked much better than his hold slicked back hair. " Melody, Nova, Mother has something that might interest you...." He said with smirk. Melody and Nova got up curiously. " What is it?" They asked in unison. He just smirked again and ran back upstairs, quickly followed by the twins. Upstairs in the fancy sitting room, they find their parents sitting together holding two sealed letters with a fancy seal on it. Narcissa hands them to Melody and Nova, and they look at each other with eagerness. They both rip off the seal and tear the envelope, to find the letter that they had been waiting for all year. Melody read her's with joy. Dear Miss Malfoy, We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Students shall be required to attend the chamber of reception upon arrival, the dates for which shall be dully advised. Please be sure that the utmost attention be made to the list of requirements attached herewith. We very much look forward to receiving you as part of the new generation of Hogwarts heritage. Professor McGonagall Deputy Headmistress Melody squealed in delight as she and her sister jumped up and down. This had turned out to be the best birthday they had ever had, and Narcissa even gave them a genuine smile as she watched her daughters actually feeling happy. She was forced to go back to her normal blank expression though when her husband looked over and gave her a stare of annoyance. " When can we go to Diagon Alley?" Nova asked eagerly. " We'll go to tomorrow, and we'll get you everything you need." Their mother said. Melody skipped happily through the halls of the Manner, and walked into her room with a mountain of happiness inside of her. Her little fluffy gray cat with blue eyes was curled up on her bed, and she sat down next to her. " Guess what Dawn? I'm going to Hogwarts! And you're coming with me!" She told the little kitten. the cat gave a happy meow before falling asleep. Melody stared out the window with newfound hope. Hogwarts was her future, her life, the place where she would finally meet new people and learn new useful things. It was her dream. It was her home. It was her destiny, and the gateway to her future.
