A quick tut for this lovely art tactic that I love using! Hope it helps take your favorite sketches to that next level! — Steps: 1. Take a photo of your doodle 2. Crop it to your desired size! 3. I typically try and edit it for darker and bolder lines by turning up contrast, brilliance, black point, and sharpness to my desired setting. 4. Import it into a drawing program of your choice. I use Autodesk Sketchbook, but any program with layers and a multiply setting works! 5. I begin coloring by using my desired color and filling in the area I want on a layer above the sketch. It’s alright to go outside of the lines a bit! 6. So when I switch the color layer to multiply, it will give the sketch a clean, colored appearance. 7. Color in the rest of the sketch as desired. Make sure that the final coloring layer is all in one layer. 8. Optional, but I added a bit of shading and colored in the sun in the background. It makes it look nice I think :] 9. Set the color layer to multiply, and ta-da! 10. Another optional step where I added a bit of lighting for fun 11. Another another optional step. A few overlays later, and here’s my finished product! It all looks quite nice and vibrant, not losing either the intended colors or the papery feel to it :] 12. A final comparison of the uncolored and colored sketch. I hope this tutorial was some level of help, and as always I’d love to answer questions or see what you’ve made! — All art by me Character is Daisuke from Mouthwashing Now Playing: Headlock - Imogen Heap Be a decent person and don’t steal, yeah?
