Chapter 13 The Prophecy ------------------ “What are you doing here?!” Annabeth yells and I help Havi up. “Uh…” I stutter. Havi and Aternus go behind me. “Annabeth…” Rachel says to Annabeth, putting a hand on her shoulder, “Annabeth. They have a right to know.” Annabeth sighs. “Fine,” and then turns to me, Aternus, and Havi, “If you’re here, you might as well come in.” We shuffle in after Annabeth and Rachel. Annabeth motions for us to sit down and we obey. She and Rachel then go into a corner and confer about something. I lean over to try to read their lips and end up falling off. I jump up and go back to the same spot. Annabeth and Rachel turn back around and sit down. “Well?” I ask. “So, you three kinda walked into something really bad,” Rachel says. “We’ve noticed.” I mutter. Annabeth sighs, “Well. We have another prophecy.” Havi gasps, “Again?!” Aternus signs something frantically. “Yes, again,” Annabeth says to our half-siblings. “What?” I ask. Everyone looks at me like I’m crazy. “Okay,” I say, while I have everyone’s attention, “What’s the big deal about prophecies, and what does this have to do with us?” “Abby,” Havi says, “One of the last prophecies Rachel gave was about this ‘7’ and another war.” “What war?! What do you mean ‘another’?!” I yell and stand up and start pacing behind everyone. “The Titan war,” Havi says. “ ‘The’ what now?!” “The Titan war. We- we lost a lot of people in it,” Annabeth says, “That’s why that prophecy is important.” I stop and stare at Annabeth. “Excuse me?” Annabeth can somehow sense the panic in the room rising in me and my friends because she quickly adds, “But don’t worry! This one seems to just be one thing. It’s not something as bad as the Titan war one.” Havi breathes a sigh of relief. “Okay…” I say and lean against the smallish couch Havi and Aternus are sitting on so I’m between them. “What does that have to do with us? Can we hear it?” “We have a feeling it has to do with you, Abby.” Rachel says. “I got it the day you came.” “Jacob came the same day.” “Yes. But it makes more sense. You have a dead sister, correct?” I inhale sharply. “How did you know about that?” I ask quickly. Rachel shrugs. “Okay…” I say, a bit weirded out. What else do they know about me? “So can we hear it? If it’s about me, I’d like to know what I’m supposed to do.” “Uh… Okay.” Rachel says, “It went like this: ‘When the day comes that the moon turns bright, the newcomer shall bring forth the dawn of evil and an end to enemies. When the time comes that sisters reunite, a drunken fight shall bring the rise of hope and an age of tranquility. Upon the day the day is shortest, the false sister shall mark a rise in immorality. When the time comes that the day is shortest, the new brother shall usher forth an age of failing crops.’ ” My eyes bug out. “Uhhhhhhhhhhhhh” I say and Annabeth just grabs me and Havi and motions for Aternus to follow. I’m just numb the whole time Annabeth leads us through the forest. /So I’m supposed to do what-?/ When we get to camp, Havi and Aternus get Annabeth to let go and run off. Annabeth is just about to start walking again when I gaze up and see the same owl. Hold up. I push the back of my feet onto the ground hard and stop her. “Abby!” I hear Havi yell. My senses are coming back. “Hang on!” I yell to Havi. I then start with Annabeth. “You still haven’t answered one of my questions. What is this supposed to do with me?” “It came the second after Rachel saw you.” “And-?” Annabeth sighs. “It happened the same way it happened with Percy. That’s why we didn’t tell you.” I blink and then let go and go with Havi.
