Thank you for playing my game! :D In the top left corner is the time, in hh:mm format. Certain fish only spawn during certain times of day! In the top right corner is your balance. To cast your rod, click "Cast!" Once your rod is in the water, you have to wait. Shaking the rod will speed up the process -- but be careful! If you shake the rod while a fish is hooked, it will scare the fish away! Once the red exclamation mark comes up, it's time to reel it in! Click "Catch!" and follow the fish in the bar on the right. If you have successfully caught the fish, it will be added to your inventory (represented as the barrel next to the fishing hole). To sell your inventory, click on the barrel. The more fish you sell at once, the more money you earn (each fish contributing 2%)! Once you catch a fish, it will be added to your Bestiary. Your Bestiary is viewable through the Main Menu, along with some stats and save/load buttons. To enter the main menu, click "Menu". To upgrade your rod, click on "Shop". Rod Tolerance is how strong the rod is (i.e. how easy it is to keep a fish hooked) Lower rod tolerances mean that fish will be unhooked more easily. Rod Speed controls how fast the rod attracts fish. Rod Tier influences the type of fish the rod will attract. Rods can never attract fish above their tier, but they can attract fish below their tier. However, they are more likely to attract fish within their own tier than tiers below it. Tier (x)+ rods are still tier (x) rods, but are more likely to pick up a fish from their designated tier than regular rods of the tier. For example, the Easy Rod (a Tier 1+ rod) is more likely to catch a Tier 1 fish (common) than a Basic Rod, which has a higher chance of catching a Tier 0 fish (junk). To scroll in the shop, press A or D! Beneath the rods are Charms, which influence the state of the game. Curiosity charms, for instance, make you 3x more likely to encounter a fish you never encountered before. Finally, once you want to start over, you can prestige to earn tokens! Prestige not only gives you a token, but it multiplies the money you get from fish by 125% (and it stacks with each prestige) Tokens can be used to curse a fish (make it 50% less common) or gild a fish (make it 50% more valuable) -- but choose wisely, because we give no refunds... >:D There's a lot of interesting stuff under the water -- care to explore?
Made for Out in the Cold SDS Inspired by Cat Goes Fishing and Fisch music by me! :D software used for music: FL Studio Mobile Tracks Used: Ice Fishing OST - Tundra (4/4, C# Major) (overworld theme) Ice Fishing OST - Unknown Place (11/4, A# Minor) (shop theme) Ice Fishing OST - DNA / Raindrop (Storm theme 1) Dodge! OST - Velocity (Storm theme 2) if you use these tracks in your games, please credit me! (I'm not sure why you would want to though! xD) 1/12/25 - Beta Release! There's still a lot I want to add, but so far I'm happy with how it's coming along! 1/12/25 - Beta 2 Added full mobile support, a new fish, and a new rod. Added the day counter as well. 1/12/25 - 1.0 (Release) Added 3 new fish along with saving/loading of progress! 1/12/25 - 1.1 (Nocturnal Fish Update) Added 7 new fish, nocturnal/diurnal fish, a new rod, and made some improvements to the Easy Rod. Saving/Loading now uses no screen refresh making it faster. 1/13/25 - 1.2 (Charm Update) Added 2 new fish, 2 new rods, Charms, rod shaking, and several graphical tweaks. Updated save version to V2 (old saves are still compatible) 1/21/25 - 1.3 (Difficulty Update) Added comments to almost every sprite, hopefully making remixing/reverse engineering easier for those who are curious how the game works! :D Made Speed Charm slightly slower (3x instead of 4x) but made casting overall faster Added Difficulties: Easy - 1.5x Cast Speed, 0.5x Sensitivity Easy Mode is intended for those on mobile devices or who are less experienced. Normal - 1x Cast Speed, 1x Sensitivity Normal Mode is intended for those who want a fairly balanced experience. Hard - 0.75x Cast Speed, 1.25x Sensitivity Hard Mode is intended for PC users mainly, and it's a lot harder to catch anything. Added new graphics and features inspired by Mehhhhhhhh12's remix! :D Updated save version to V3 NOTE: Saves from before 1.3 will automatically default to Normal mode. Added 5 new fish Added Sunshine Rod as a daytime opposite of the Noctilucent Rod 1/24/25 - 1.3.1 (Remix Update) Added more documentation to Fish and Rod sprites for how to add new fish, and added a custom block that should make creating/editing the stats far easier! :D I also snuck 4 new fish in -- can you catch them all? (hint: 2 of them are diurnal!) 10/14/25 - 1.4 (Misc Update!) A somewhat minor update adding a bit more graphical effects as well as replacing the scroll buttons with proper scrollbars. :D Most of all, however, this update added a simple weather system, which I plan to expand upon in the future. 10/31/25 - 2.0 (The Everything Update) This update completely overhauled stuff such as the Bestiary menu. It also nearly doubled the amount of fish and tripled the number of charms. The game feels a lot more complete to me now :D 2/7/26 - End of Life I am now working on a sequel to Ice Fishing Classic (called Ice Fishing 2) and will focus all development time on that game instead :D Ice Fishing 2 will mainly be made in Rust -- but I will probably spend some time porting it to Scratch as well so it's still playable here. This version of Ice Fishing (now called Ice Fishing Classic) will remain playable :D Thank you for all of your support! <3 3/7/26 - ICE FISHING 2 NOTICE Ice Fishing 2 will not be directly ported to Scratch, but I will however build a game with mirrored features on Scratch based on this game which will be called Ice Fishing Classic: Redux. IFC:R will differ from IF2 in some ways (namely IFC:R will have a password saving system similar to IFC and will probably have a slightly different soundtrack. IF2 won't be released to the public though, only IFC:R will -- so it's basically just IF2. :D
