Click the green flag and listen to a demonstration of flanging. Try changing the sample sounds and play around with the sliders :)
In the Phasing Demo project, the effect is produced by cutting one of the sounds short, so that it loops slightly faster than the other sound, causing a slowly increasing offset between the sounds. The result is a rather hypnotic slowly shifting melody, and is typically used in minimal music. In this project though, the two sounds are equally long, and we produce an offset by stretching one of the sounds slightly with the pitch effect. This produces a very characteristic kind of sweeping effect, which can be enhanced further by oscillating the pitch. Early electronic music from the 60s and 70s make heavy use of flanging. I have added several music loops from the Scratch library, so that you can try the effect on different types of sound. There is actually an example of music using a flanging effect in the the Scratch library, namely the loop "Jungle". Learn more about flanging here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flanging
