Hi! There’s a problem I think that needs to be discussed. In the recent years (starting ~2020) people have began to both fake (or exaggerate) and glamorize many disorders. You may be wondering “why is this bad?” Well you see, exaggerating and ‘bragging’ about symptoms creates more and more harmful stereotypes, and actually hurts people who suffer from said disorder. I’m autistic, and a part of a few autistic communities, and there are very many people posting things that make it seem like a fun and quirky thing to have. People like this are why words like ‘acoustic’ have become common insults. Similarly, I’ve noticed a lot of people faking adhd, especially ‘preppy’ girls within my school. Whether they’re hogging up all the fidgets, or using it as an excuse to talk in class it isn’t okay. People faking adhd have actually made it harder for diagnosed people (like me) to have the tools they need to focus, and it’s actually really upsetting. Sorry if the ending was abrupt, I’m in a hurry and there’s not much to say. If you’d like to add context or counter my argument your free to do so.
