variables are basically just numbers that don't have a set value, but they aren't only used in math, they are essential in coding as well, in coding, variables are used for any number that you might want to change, for example, a score counter, or a level select, there can also be true / false variables, which is useful if you only have two values, ie. variable : are you on the title screen? Overall, variables are very useful, especially in coding games, and it is very important to understand how they work.
