✦ hey, everyone! welcome to my leader application for the march 2025 session of swc. i believe this is my eighth time applying and my fourth time submitting a minigame-based app. the tradition shall go onnnnn ✦ i'm really excited for you to play this one, so let's get started! fullscreen is recommended for better readability. ✦ this app is unfortunately not mobile-friendly (i promise i tried guys </3), but you can read the text version here: https://scratch.mit.edu/discuss/post/8343404 ✦ instructions — this app is fairly simple - all you need to do is complete achievements by building your city to unlock answers. you have 8 building types with varied costs, and each one brings a different randomized population boost (and having population is good, you can exploit them for taxes). the building types are: ✺ roads (gray octagon) ✺ houses (light orange pentagon) ✺ parks (light green circle) ✺ apartments (dark blue rectangle) ✺ shops (yellow chevron) ✺ restaurants (beige star) ✺ schools (red banner shape thing i don't know what that is) ✺ pharmacies because free healthcare cough cough /j (lilac triangle) — hover over each building type to see information about it (price and population boost) — click on a building type and then on a grid to place it. roads must be placed in the green lines/intersections/please tell me you understand what i'm trying to say. — top-left buttons ✺ the checkmark can be used to access the achievement list (it's scrollable btw use arrow keys or mouse), and you can see what you need to do for each achievement as well as the ones you've completed. once you get achievements, you can click on the green checkmarks to view the corresponding answer (also scrollable). ✺ the music note can be used to activate/deactivate music. yay simple — top-right stats ✺ population: represented with the symbol ✺, it shows how many people ̶y̶o̶u̶'̶r̶e̶ ̶g̶o̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶e̶x̶p̶l̶o̶i̶t̶ ̶f̶o̶r̶ ̶m̶o̶n̶e̶y̶ uh, i mean, how many people are going to pay you some sweet $WC. you can get more by adding buildings. ✺ available money: represented with the letters $WC (i know i'm so clever), it shows the budget to get new buildings. you can get more by placing buildings, therefore attracting taxpayers, who pay you 0.25 to 0.30 $WC each every 12-15 seconds. i know it sounds like very little but it adds up i promise ✺ city worth: represented with the symbol ✦, it shows how many $WC you've spent/inverted in your city. you can get more by buying stuff. — achievement list ✺ question one - «first step» - place your first location ✺ question two - «greener side» - have 4 grids of parks ✺ question three - «small town girl» - have a city with 10 people ✺ question four - «taxpayers' money» - have 200 $WC saved up ✺ question five - «room with a view» - place your first apartment complex ✺ question six - «urban architect» - place 10 locations ✺ question seven - «the whole package» - place one of each type of location ✺ question eight - «rags to riches» - have a city worth 300 $WC ✺ question nine - «mini metropolis» - reach 50 citizens ✺ question ten - «homes, sweet homes» - have five residential locations (homes and/or apartments) ✺ question eleven - «legacy builder» - have a city worth 450 $WC (now it's worthy of a train route!) ✦ please let me know if you have any sort of feedback, questions, or suggestions; and i hope you have fun <3 there were so. many. bugs. and i procrastinated a lot (i'm so thankful it's summer break because otherwise i would not ✖ have gotten this done on time), but i had a blast coding through this, so :D ✦ and here's to all fellow applicants because we got this far - we can do this <3
