"I know everybody says we gotta work harder during school and whatnot...but I think we're already set for our future lives, even if our grades are trash." ◈ Notes ◈ Sorry for the infrequent posts, guys- Hopefully this shows I'm still drawing X'D Anyway, I really sacrificed time over detail with this one- But it looks pretty good, so I'd say it was (somewhat) worth a few weeks! Also, I really need to remind myself to learn to draw Pokemon moves. But at least I could give Daniel a major appearance outside the comic! I don't draw him very often, so I'm glad I still can :') Any sort of comment is appreciated! It could be a helpful tip or a complement, as long as it's not rude. :D ◈ Background lore ◈ Daniel is definitely the least-known protagonist out of SoO's main four. All I've shared about him so far is his status as a DJ, and his personality and friendship with Ryan. He also doesn't seem to have any useful traits like the others; Ryan is a hacker, Sage is part Spiritomb, Amelia was once human. Daniel's status as a DJ wouldn't seem to add to the lore or action scenes, and while he's pretty good at battling we've already got Suzie for that. Here are a few hints as to how being a DJ helps Daniel during those action scenes. (Hint #1) In real life, DJs are supposed to hype up crowds with their music and ensure everyone is having fun. According to real-life DJ Carl Cox in an interview, he "[DJs] to the people who are not moving" and "if everyone starts having a good time, [his] job has already been done." Since Daniel is a Ralts, he can do this in a much more literal sense and read the emotions of his crowd. After all, Ralts as Pokemon are attracted to the positive emotions of their surroundings and feel intimidated by negative ones. Real-life DJs also "predict the future" in the sense that they change and prepare tracks as people listen; they make educated guesses as to which tracks/effects sound best together and when they should play in the song.
