I am typing this on January 18th, 2025 at 11 PM EST. Just about 20-30 minutes ago, TikTok got banned in the U.S. What you see on screen is what I saw opening the app. I have been using TikTok every so often since January 2018. That's seven years now, so this feels kind of surreal. I downloaded Lemon8 as an alternative, but since the app was linked to TikTok, it also got banned. When Donald Trump takes office on Monday, he’ll announce that he’ll give ByteDance 90 more days to work out a solution (Likely). I kind of hope it gets unbanned, but at the same time, this may be good for some
This ban doesn't just include TikTok and Lemon8, but also CapCut as it's also owned by the same company
