is anyone else tired of the "dhar mann" view of autism? by that i mean the "autism isn't a disability its a superpower!!!" stuff that i see all the time. it's really hard to see all of our struggles dismissed like that. coming from an (undiagnosed) autistic person, autism is absolutely a disability. it's not some magical condition that makes you super smart. it's a real disability that affects real people in real ways. the people with this view usually have good intentions but it still sucks to see. edit: why was this removed from autism acceptance group??? edit 2: just so yk, i don't support the "autism speaks" view either. (meaning the "autism is a villain, it will take everything away from you and we need to cure it" type of view)
