The Medic is the healer class of TF2. With 150 health, an accordion taunt, and several powerful tools at his disposal, the Medic isn’t just a hide-behind class. The Medic has a base health regen, unlike any other class (except for Soldier with the Concheror), and a powerful melee, designed for spychecking. The Medic is very important to a team, since not only is he the best (and, really, most effective) source of healing in the entire game, and can revive his fellow teammates in Mann Vs. Machine (I’m going to go over the different classes in MvM in a different guide, since it’s a bit more complicated). The Medic can be played either offensively or defensively, and one of the greatest strengths a Medic player can have is multitasking, being able to keep his entire team as topped-up as possible. Medic Weapons The Medic has slightly less variety than the other classes, but there are still some important things that you can take advantage of. PRIMARY Stock Stock is, as like with almost every other stock weapon, the simplest and most effective choice. Decent damage, no downsides, but the important detail is that, like every other Medic Primary (except for the Crossbow) has arcing needle shots. They, much like the Huntsman, have travel time and speed fall off. Blutsauger The Blutsauger is for an Offensive Medic, since it reduces your natural health regen and replaces it with a health-steal sort of thing. Other than that, it is the same as stock. Overdose The Overdose is the last type of syringe gun at your disposal. In exchange for 15% of its damage, you get a small speed boost based on how high your Übercharge meter is. Crusader’s Crossbow The Crossbow is another projectile-based weapon, one that heals teammates and harms enemies. The further it travels, the more it heals or hurts. SECONDARIES Medi-Gun The Medi-Gun, or stock, is nice and simple. Basic healing, Übercharge grants full immunity for a short time. It can also overheal, which means increase a healing target’s health past they’re normal max by an addition 50% of half of their max health. Quick Fix The Quick Fix heals faster than stock, and charges Über faster, at the cost of 50% less overheal and an Übercharge that makes you heal faster instead of grant immunity. Kritzkrieg The Kritzkrieg charges Über about 25% faster than stock, and instead of immunity, grants guaranteed critical hits for the duration of the Übercharge. Vaccinator The Vaccinator is arguably the Medic’s strongest weapon, since he can not only heal his target, but also grant them damage reduction from explosive, fire, bullet, and (I think) melee damage. In exchange, Übercharge charges slower, grants higher damage reduction for the chosen field, and highly reduces how fast your patients get overheal. MELEE Bonesaw Stock. Nothing special. Ubersaw The Ubersaw’s main draw is that it will charge your Uber meter when it successfully hits an enemy player. Vitasaw The Vitasaw allows you to active your Übercharge when your melee is equipped. It also allows you to retain your Übercharge after death up to a certain point based on how many enemy players you vanquished with your melee in that life. Solemn Vow The Solemn Vow is almost identical to stock, other than it swings slightly slower and allows you to see the enemy player’s health.
