Section 3: Writing an Ad We all hate ads, but you usually never see a magazine without an ad, so it seems that you must do it too. To write an ad, start by determining the product or service you are advertising and the message or message you want to deliver. Make sure that it relates to the topic of your magazine so that readers will also be interested, after all, if a reader started reading your article because they saw cute baby animals, maybe an ad for buying a bulldozer wouldn't be the best. To get the reader interested, write a short and impactful message or headline that will grab the reader's attention. Try your best to convince your reader that this good/service is beneficial to them, and they should buy it! To make sure that readers can buy the ad's product with no problems, add a call to action, such as a phone number, link, or company name so that the reader can take the desired action. This does not have to be real, but it can if you want to. Brainstorm 2 different ads and write at least 250 words for each one. Make sure that your products/services aren't too similar from each other so they aren't competing against each other in the same magazine. Section 4: Writing an advice column The best part of a magazine is an advice column, a place where you can relax, chill, and laugh at the silly questions and answers that are in it. First, brainstorm 5-7 different silly/not so silly questions that relate to your magazine topic. You can ask others in the main cabin for ideas, but make sure they know the topic before giving you an answer. Add silly things like funny names for the people who asked the questions, like for a questions about what is the best sweater for fall, T-Shirt Lover or Uncertain About Sweaters. Make sure that your answers are generally mid-length, not too long, not too short, and exaggerated or purposely funny so readers can tell you are joking. Write at least 350 words of silly answers and questions to wrap up your magazine. Conclusion: You've made it to the end of the weekly! Congrats!
