The sea crashed against the bow of a small ship, causing foam to emerge and bubble out. The owner of the boat was on it, watching the waves and appreciating the patterns of the light on them. Glancing up, she noticed something floating through the water towards her. She reached for the thing, her hand sinking into the cool water as she grabbed an old bottle. Chuckling to herself, she pulled it out of the water to examine it. Of course, she had heard of a map in a bottle, but she had assumed that tradition had stopped ages ago. She looked at the bottle, turning it over. A label was on the bottle, although it was too old and scratched up to read. "My goodness!" She muttered, looking past the label and inside the bottle. A scroll laid inside, a big red 'X' on the outside. Popping the cork off, she pulled the map out and started to unroll the map. It smelled of salt and algae, as well as a few more questionable scents. The map was now completely unrolled, its edges tattered and frayed from age. "I don't recognize this place.." She said. Looking down the map towards the compass rose, she noticed a few letters scribbled onto the paper. They read 'Golden cove'. It suddenly hit her. "it's- I know where that is! There might be treasure!" She turned towards the back of the boat, clutching her tiller harder and jerking it to one side, causing her to tack. She untied the main sheet, pulling it ever so slightly before tying it back up. She was going on an adventure, and she couldn't wait to see where it brought her.
