Can you hear the noise? It rises above this room we sit in, Staring at the glow of the TV. It rises towards our leader, A man who has said he would use the forces against us. We let ourselves be led by a man with a suit. A business man, Full of empty promises. We bear arms, Saying it's a right. Why are we focused on that right? Instead of speech. Of religion. We say we have those freedoms, But why do people takes rights from a Muslim? Or from a freedom fighter? We still fight for our freedom everyday. Just for businesses and corporate to look at us and laugh. From their palace of glass, Holding their chalice. We wrap ourselves in flags, Saying we are a country, We are a family. We are diversity. But we turn to hurt those different. We brainwash our children. For the sake of societal eyes. Watching us, Waiting, For one of us to step out of line. We stare at soft glows of lights a midnight. Crying and worrying about the future. Instead of fighting it, Making our own. Nothing is set in stone. We can find hope in our ancestors. The founders didn't even believe a god. Yet we still praise the face of him in our mirrors. We try to be him, But then we don't feed him. For the Christians, God is in the poor, The hungry. And the broken. For the Non-Believers, We are people. We must protect ourselves from others. For the others, We are diverse, We still fight for our religions everyday. We will, Because the billionaires will not. We still fight for the color of our skin. That doesn't mean much from me, A white girl with a small family. But Hispanics fight for homes, Blacks fight against stereotypes. Indians fight for their dreams. Natives fight for their own land. For us, the whites. We were the ones to immigrate. We invaded lands, We killed others, Enslaved those different. "Let this be a lesson, to all of you. If you step out of line, you will go missing. We do not need you, we just need a reason to get out our aggression." Stand up, Bear your flags. It is what we have now. Sing your songs, Scream your words. They take our knowledge, Our books, Our music. They take the arts because it symbolizes who we are. So we must take our flags, And be Americans. -Crazy_Author
