Lunar New Year is on January 29th! It's the beginning of the year according to the lunar calendar. Because of the lunar calendar not aligning perfectly with the solar calendar, Lunar New Year can fall between late January and mid-February. Asian countries like China, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Singapore celebrate Lunar New Year! Our family celebrates Lunar New Year by dressing in traditional Chinese clothes and taking pictures to send to friends and family (the drawing's outfit looks like the one I wore). We also put up 揮春 (Fai chun) on doors to decorate. Red envelopes are also given out to children by adults. In Chinese culture, red is a lucky color and symbolizes success. In my drawing, I am holding an orange, which also means good luck. My art process and references are inside the project! Feel free to take a look! The hair is a bit inaccurate, my hair is darker and not as thick as my drawing, and the skin tone is definitely off. But I'm quite proud of this because I made it in three days without procrastinating! The music is from Uppbeat. https://uppbeat.io/t/simon-folwar/skylight
