"ᵂᵃˢ ᵃ ˡᵒⁿᵍ ᵃⁿᵈ ᵈᵃʳᵏ ᴰᵉᶜᵉᵐᵇᵉʳ" It was the beginning of Magpie's apprenticeship. A start of something new. Yet she was leaving so much... behind. How could a world be so cruel? It truly was winter Cold & Unforgiving A title to behold. "ᵀʰᵉʳᵉ ʷᵃˢ ˢⁿᵒʷ, ʷʰⁱᵗᵉ ˢⁿᵒʷ ᶜˡᵉᵃʳˡʸ, ᴵ ʳᵉᵐᵉᵐᵇᵉʳ" She was only a kit. So were her siblings and friends. Now they're just supposed to move on? Why take these cats away? Why take mama, Uncle Beesting, even Inky? All those cats in the war? She never got to know their favorite prey favorite season favorite territory to explore And she never would. "ᴮʸ ᵃ ᶜᵃʳⁿⁱᵛᵃˡ ᵒᶠ ⁱᵈⁱᵒᵗˢ ᵒⁿ ˢʰᵒʷ ʸᵒᵘ'ᵈ ᵇᵉᵗᵗᵉʳ ˡⁱᵉ ˡᵒʷ" At least she knew their presence and how much love they brought into this world. But she regretted not asking more questions. It nearly doesn't even feel real. ... Is it real? "ᴵᶠ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᵒᵛᵉ ᵐᵉ, ʷᵒⁿ'ᵗ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᵉᵗ ᵐᵉ ᵏⁿᵒʷ?" Mama's kindness will always radiate through her mind. Berylberry always reminded her of the wind. A piercing breeze, cascading from one end to the next, dancing along so joyfully and free. Mama always made sure everyone was happy... one way or another. Sometimes bringing others a jolt or a refreshing breath of fresh air. Always in a good way though, and that's what inspired Magpie so. "ᴮᵘʳʸ ᵐᵉ ⁱⁿ ᵃʳᵐᵒᵘʳ ᵂʰᵉⁿ ᴵ'ᵐ ᵈᵉᵃᵈ ᵃⁿᵈ ʰⁱᵗ ᵗʰᵉ ᵍʳᵒᵘⁿᵈ ᴹʸ ⁿᵉʳᵛᵉˢ ᵃʳᵉ ᵖᵒˡᵉˢ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵘⁿᶠʳᵒᶻᵉ" Beesting was one who reminded her of the strong trees, seeming to nearly touch the sky. Always an awe to gaze at. Oh, how safe a forest made her feel. One that no one could tear down, no matter how many times they clawed it. A forest is tough, and endures so much.. yet still stands tall, covering the earth with the shadows of it's greenery and the occasional fallen leaf it sheds so dearly from it's branches and bark. What a home Beesting promised her and her siblings. "ᴵ ᵈᵒⁿ'ᵗ ʷᵃⁿᵗ ᵗᵒ ᵇᵉ ᵃ ˢᵒˡᵈⁱᵉʳ ᵂʰᵒ ᵗʰᵉ ᶜᵃᵖᵗᵃⁱⁿ ᵒᶠ ˢᵒᵐᵉ ˢⁱⁿᵏⁱⁿᵍ ˢʰⁱᵖ ʷᵒᵘˡᵈ ˢᵗᵒʷ ᶠᵃʳ ᵇᵉˡᵒʷ" Then there was Inkycap... a fellow kit who pondered over the night sky. One who could nearly be the night sky herself. With the swirling hues of violets and blues. Freckles of shimmering stars, guiding everyone home. Inky was one to behold, a friend who lent her an ear and a shoulder to lean on. She deserved to dance forever amongst the starry sky, engulfed in everything she loves. "ᵀʰᵉʳᵉ ʷᵉ ˢᵃᵗ ⁱⁿ ˢⁿᵒʷ ᴬˡˡ ᵗʰᵃᵗ ᵗⁱᵐᵉ ˢʰᵉ ʷᵃˢ ˢⁱˡᵉⁿᵗ ˢᵗⁱˡˡ" why how when This feels almost as cruel as her own imagination ... maybe it is her own imagination. no. no no no. They were gone... for real. Lost. Lost felt like a better word for that. She felt lost. Maybe she had felt lost for a long time... Is she even real herself? "ˢᵒ ⁱᶠ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᵒᵛᵉ ᵐᵉ, ʷᵒⁿ'ᵗ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᵉᵗ ᵐᵉ ᵏⁿᵒʷ? ᴵᶠ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᵒᵛᵉ ᵐᵉ, ʷᵒⁿ'ᵗ ʸᵒᵘ ˡᵉᵗ ᵐᵉ ᵏⁿᵒʷ?" She hasn't got a clue. She must be. ....right? nothing made sense. nothing at all.
