:: Chapter Three, continued :: The creature stiffened as he saw the beautiful Air Spirit, his green-turquoise eyes widening in surprise. He lowered his scythe slightly. Iphnie stared back at the creature. “What are you?” she asked him curiously, stepping forward hesitantly. The creature seemed to recoil at her words. “Typical,” he grumbled. Iphnie blinked in confusion, her wings fluttering. The creature sighed, finally lowering his weapon. “I am a merman,” he said with a nod of his head, as though recognizing her status. “Cyrus of the Southern Sea of Skuyae.” Iphnie finally relaxed. “Hello, I’m a—” “You’re an Air Spirit,” Cyrus interrupted without shame, his voice bitter, “I noticed.” Iphnie tilted her head to the side. “Is that a bad thing?” she asked the merman. Cyrus scoffed. Iphnie sighed.
