28 Reasons You (Yes, /YOU/.) Should Join Scratch Writing Camp, presented in the most stunning low-quality stylistic approach of a project description. After all, promotional projects are all just 'Probably Real Online Menacing Orders To Intentionally Offer Newly Acquired Licenses'. I know, it makes absolutely no sense. You could, of course, rephrase that as 'A Very Lazy Attempt At Re-purposing Profile Picture Art As Well As Use Your Scrapped App Theme'. ...That's quite enough of me rambling, let's get into it. ---------------------------- And without further ado... 28 Reasons You (Yes, you should be quite aware I'm talking to you, and /you specifically/,) Should Join SWC: 1. Because you clicked on this project. I mean, why else would you click on a project with, perhaps, unfamiliar initials, other than pure intrigue? Very well, you've arrived at the right place. The following points will, hopefully, make that decision for you. 2. It's completely online- You wouldn't have to check in daily. Participation is entirely dependent on you, there is no pressure at all to be chronically refreshing the main cabin (Though, admittedly, avid SWC-ers do that. ...A lot.). 3. There's an experience for everyone. Every session brings a unique lineup of cabins, each with their own theme, genre, and atmosphere- You're bound to find something up your alley. Or maybe even a few- Picking preferences is quite difficult at times. 4. Not a fan of competition? No worries, SWC's got that taken care of as well. The Cabin That Will Not Win, or simply abbreviated as TCTWNW, is a cabin separate from the leaderboards where personal goals and improvement are top priority. 5. And of course- On the other end of the spectrum, SWC is competitive. /Very/, in fact. If you like friendly competition and cabin rivalries, this is the place. 6. SWC's competitive aspect can't live without this one- Cabin Wars are, arguably, one of the most anticipated activities of SWC, happening twice every session where cabins challenge each other to word sprints- And did I mention your entire cabin's points are on the line? >:D 7. You're free to write whatever you'd like, regardless of the cabin you're in- Whatever your heart desires, as long as it fits within the requirements of word adding. 8. SWC doesn't just stand for Scratch Writing Camp. It also stands for Such Wonderful Chaos, Silly Watermelon Cactuses, upon many more. Want to add to the collection? Join us. >:) 9. Because I told you so. /jjj (Look- Make your own decisions, I'm only here to persuade you ;).) 10. Alright, these reasons are starting to get nonsensical- And that's a reason in itself. SWC = CHAOS. 11. If you do end up signing up, (which you absolutely should,) you should also, without a doubt, put Sci-Fi in your preferences ;DD 12. SWC provides daily writing activities, which means that 1. You'll have an endless stream of inspiration, as well as 2. Serving up an opportunity to earn a few points for your cabin. 13. Yes, I did, in fact, intentionally make this that 12th point. I may or may not be obsessed with the most obscure number references.) 14. SWC has tons of inside jokes. TONS. Before you take this the other way, remember that they literally appear every. single. session. Seriously- Some of these can have you rolling on the floor laughing and bringing it up every session after. 15. Cabins often have custom 'cabin merch', a collection of PFPs, banners, signatures and more to reward you for participation :D 16. Depending on the cabin you're in, some also offer interactive storylines, to which you can work with your fellow campers to complete puzzles, solve mysteries, and form those lasting bonds which I'll get deeper into in just a second. 17. Yes- The bonds you form during SWC can, most definitely, last a lifetime. It's not just some lazy catchphrase on an advertisement, friendships and memories made in SWC can go on for years. That's what keeps this community thriving for so long. 18. A-HA! See what I did there again? Just leading right into the next point with every close-off. The SWC community is one of the most welcoming and supportive ones out there. If you need any assistance with an activity, or just want some tips, just ask! As mentioned above, this extremely active community of young writers will be rushing to your aid- Perhaps even bringing a mango or two. 19. There's always a mango in every corner. Originally started as an inside joke by the hosts of a certain session, mangoes have proven their significance in SWC history by being the camp-wide celebrated fruit, known for its motivational abilities, hence the name 'motivational mangoes'. 20. If you've been looking for someplace to get your writing critiqued, look no further- The Critiquitaire is a special SWC activity that allows campers to swap pieces and give each other advice. This also counts for points once per day, if that would attract you by any means.
Continued... 21. If you're up for a word sprint, Word Wars are a great way to up your word count. They're 1v1 sprints against your fellow campers, with an optional prompt if you're up for a challenge. 22. The hosts, or tyrants, are absolute icons. (Yes- /You/, hosties <3.) No questions asked on this one. They're also responsible for the creation of... 23. You guessed it- The SWC Mascots! From Gurtle, the Devourer of Descriptions, to Skog, the fluffy companion found at your local IKEA warehouses, there's an array of mascots loved camp-wide, with new additions every session. Last session they even had an all-out Mascot Cookout- You can really expect the unexpected here ;0. 24. It's the 24th session of camp! Yes, this camp has been around since 2017, and has grown and shaped into what it is today by all the hosts, leaders, and campers up to date. (Which also means, July of next year would be the 28th...) 25. Well, I mean- SWC is a triannual camp. It happens only once every four months- Surely you wouldn't want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime (Since, well- Taking that first step will always be an only chance, really.) opportunity to be a part of such a delightful community, make memories, and brush up on your writing skills along the way? 26. Do I really have to explain this again? If you've read this far, /clearly/ you have at least /some/ intent in signing up. And I am, by no means, able to read minds- from such a distance, at the very least, but- You get the idea. ;D 27. SWC also offers an exceptionally quick mail delivery service- If you'd like to be pinged for camper signups, just leave a message on Rockie- one of our beloved host's- profile (@rocksalmon800), and you'll be notified the second signups are released. 28. And that's it! The 28th reason, you ask? Oh, I reserved it just to thank you for reading through all of that. Truly, I very much appreciate your time here. <33 ---------------------------- Credits to SWC hosts, past and present, for writing up the SWC FAQ from which information was gathered from.
