:: Chapter Three, continued :: Suddenly, a movement in the mist caught the Air Spirit’s eye. A silvery apparition of a female stood behind Cyrus. Her long and flowing hair seemed to blow in the breeze. She had a pretty face, with her irises being the only part of her that had pigmentation: a very pale blue, like thousands of diamonds. The woman had the same facial structure as Cyrus, with eyes slightly narrowed, just like them. She placed a ghostly, webbed hand on Cyrus's shoulder. But, surprisingly, Cyrus reacted, as though he felt it. Iphnie had never seen that before. His lips moved, but his voice was carried away by the wind. Iphnie only heard one word. "...Mother." The ghost disappeared into the fog, and Cyrus glared at Iphnie. "Why are you staring at me like that?" the merman asked the Air Spirit suspiciously. Iphnie snapped back to reality. "I–I didn't—I wasn't staring…" She trailed off. How was she supposed to explain to a stranger merman (that she wasn't even supposed to be talking to, by the way) that she saw his dead mother behind him as a ghost?!
