Hello, hello, hello! I'm Minni with S-pop_Reports! I, along with many others, have felt like K-pop has been getting worse. It has come to the point where songs are missing entire bridges, which are 'tik-tok-ifying' the songs. Personally, I don't mind a song without a bridge, but those songs make up for it by either being extremely good, or long. I would listen to a minute 30 second song if it was really good. I've also noticed the same algorithm within K-pop. It's mostly cute concepts and once in a clover, you get a different concept, but even that concept is a more 'cool' concept. There's nothing in between. Let's see what the people think!! Starrii (@Not_Starrii): "There are a lot of good songs without bridges, but most of my favorite songs have bridges, (You should totally listen to Tally Hall, BTW), and bridges just generally make the song so much better and can provide balance" Jiyeon: (@-leeseo-lovedive-): "k-pop going viral on tiktok should be a lucky break, not the default. most k-pop fans don't find new songs through tiktok, so why is it becoming such a big avenue to find them? I personally don't have a lot of time to learn dances, and I don't want a song that I have to learn the dance to. I want a k-pop song to just feel the amazing uplifting vibes of in my bedroom at night. I want a bridge and an amazing finale chorus." Petals district: https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/35701227/comments/ Petals district seems to collectively disagree however, they were flat-out saying that it's been about the same. Lilia (@File-507_Lilia): "it's chill w me ig, I just wish it didn't mean everyone who listens to k-pop is seen as a tiktok girlie" The LGBTQ+ studio, https://scratch.mit.edu/studios/5842709/comments/ , however, believes that it has in fact gotten noticeably worse Elizabeth, (@LikeASticker127): "tbh I love kpop but all the scandals, sasaengs, jealous fans, and like when some kpop idol dates like posessive fans get all crazy. it angers me. Some k-fans angry me. Like kpop industry is terrible. Overworked artists, dieting, bleaching thee skin white, etc." Azra (): "in my opinion kpop getting tiktokified is weird bc theyre both rlly different and when kpop becomes a trend on tt it jst feels weird to listen to the song" Luna (C4merha-girll): "I’m actually pretty chill with it tbh the only thing I don’t like is how songs are not having bridges anymore but I actually like it when songs are shorter cause this is a rlly unpopular opinion but I feel like longer songs drag on too much and are way too boring for me (unless if they’re super good than I’m fine with listening to longer songs) so I mean ig I’m fine with it but at the same time I also do want songs to add bridges but not be super long at the same time I also think the dance challenges are pretty cute and I like it, I don’t really have a strong opinion abt this one tbh. I just think kpop is changing since things do change over time" Snowy (): "I used to really like K-pop around a year ago; all the latest songs were absolute bangers, from the catchy lyrics to the dance concept. K-pop is a very modern genre of music, and therefore incorporates not too many traditional elements, like actual melodies, but instead more rap and hip-hop; however, other aspects usually made up for this, like the catchy beat or even the dance. At this point I feel like K-pop is running out of ideas; all their concepts are so bland and repetitive, and depending on the group, it's usually that whole cutesy-crush theme, or the 'bad girl' theme. not to mention, although different groups differ in concept, they aren't distinct at all; all idols are skinny and pale and fit the 'ideal' stereotype, which sometimes is disgusting because everyone is beautiful and creating such impossible beauty standards is bound to make all young girls feel insecure. I hope they adapt and change." (Any extra takes I'll add here!) Overall, I very much do think K-pop is getting monotonous, and their faces and looks isn't helping either. I already have a bad time with faces, but now that they all look alike and you can only tell them apart from their hair, (Which they dye). I had a trouble time deciphering who is who in the thumbnail here! & I still hardly know! Anyways, what are your opinions on the matter? Do you have a favorite K-pop group? Do you also have trouble differentiating the idols? Well, tell me in the comments! Minni out! Credits )) for the inspo All interviews mentioned Thumbnail is STAYC!
