wahh i'm so sorry this is super bad my artstyle is literally glitching today so erm... i got a time limit put on my procreate. so thats fun. enjoy <3 name: axana sister's name: katya tw: mentions of d3ath ! backstory: axana came into the world quickly, born on the edge of a site where a terrible nuclear disaster had occurred. her family was on the move, rushing towards safety, but axana's birth delayed their escape, causing the d3ath of her and her sister katya's mother. her earliest memories were that of unchanging red trees, eerily silent, and the occasional dusty, gray snow that her mother kept her and katya from touching by sheltering them with her cloak, di3ng slowly and agonizingly after months of contact with the radiation. axana was born with three eyes from a rare mutation [caused by the nuclear accident]. she was mostly blind and could only see the difference of light and shadow - however, her sister, katya, was completely blind with wing-like growths shrouding her face and torso. she was axana's only source of comfort and the only figure she could rely on, though she was naive and never once questioned a decision katya made. when they arrived at the nearest safe civilization, named gypsum, katya was seen as a savior for her pure, white fur and her angelic appearance. blindness was seen as a blessing, and even though axana was nearly-blind and katya's sister, she was gossiped about and picked on due to her three eyes, even though her fur was just as bright. to them, she was a demon. when katya got into the largest temple in gypsum, she and axana lived together in the free room that came with serving the temple. axana had to be hid, however, because the moment someone saw someone like her there, she would most certainly be dragged into the dungeons of the castle, in which the rulers of gypsum resided. one day, after living in secret for years and only eating scraps katya gave her, katya gave axana the chance to attend a party with her. she urged axana to go, and wanting to see the outside world for the first time in years, axana agreed. at the party, axana was lost. she stumbled across dark, imposing hallways and spiraling marble staircases dimly lit by hanging chandeliers. eventually though, she heard a voice. " ew...what is that? is it a demon? " a disgusted voice rang out from the end of a hallway, echoing in axana's disbelieving ears. a laugh answered the voice, as another one replied. " it's that thing everybody's talking about. i really can't believe something like that is the sister of someone like katya. " axana couldn't believe it. she felt dizzy and nauseous. barely holding onto a string of thought, she sauntered haltingly towards the voices. she could hear them shrinking away in disgust and fear as she neared them. " eugh, what's it gonna do now? let's g- " axana suddenly heard katya's voice in head, which was due to the strange telepathy between them when they were near. katya said that she could - that she should k!ll anybody if they displeased her - after all, katya was highly admired and would protect axana from any retaliation. and so after a moment of hesitation, axana pulled out the sharpened kitchen knife her sister brought her for this purpose. she pounced on the two, blindly writhing around and covering their muzzles to smother their screams until all grew still and she felt wetness dripping off her paws. she took a step back in disbelief as the tang of bl00d hit her nose. cringing, she sat on the cold floor and broke down sobbing. she actually k!lled them...why did she do that...but she had to, because katya said so... " what are you doing?! " a horrified voice rang out. before axana could react, it yelled out, " katya! " katya came to the scene and gasped, to axana's surprise. she said that she never knew her sister could do such a thing. she said that axana deserved to d!e as cruelly as the other two did. the more axana listened, the more sick she felt. what was katya talking about? wasn't she on her side? didn't she tell her to do all this? before long, a furious, disgusted crowd had gathered to see the capture of axana. the demon. the incarnation of evil. and she fled as fast as she could, into the market, pulling up the hood of her cloak as she screamed in fury, feeling the betrayal and confusion ripping through her veins. she disappeared into the crowd, and without a second thought, she snuck into a stall in the marketplace, pulling out the stained knife, leading to the vendor's violent end. before she realized what she had done, it was too late. the cost for her anguish, although undeserved, was to be paid. + in notes & creds
+ cont'd from info she felt her heart shatter as the claws of the souls whom she had k!lled surrounded her and latched onto her being. they ate away at her matted tail and part of her fur, dyeing her fur a purplish gray and merging into her torso. and then she could see. there were yellow eyes all over her flank. she couldn't even scream - her voice didn't work. and so with a shattered heart and a new disease in the form of a black mass that constantly spread into her thoughts, controlling her actions through voices that tortured her with guilt, she carried on, escaping gypsum, which was now ruled by katya, who was hunting for her. so she settled in an unclaimed land far, far away. she locked her tumultuous emotions deep inside her heart, instead noticing that there were fresh scents in every corner of the forest, and using her new eyes and much hard work, axana pushed through the whispers that crowded her head every minute of the day and built herself a quaint cottage tucked away in the forest, where she discovered how to make magical food using the ingredients of the forest, writing it down in her "cookbook." she later discovered that on nights with no moon, the souls trapped in her would grow restless and take control of her, trying to make their way back to gypsum, like how a parasite would take over a host. to prevent damage to both her and her life, she carries candles with her crafted from a special wax that creates a barrier around the flame so it doesn't burn out...most of the time. she hopes never to return to gypsum and that the souls don't take over her completely, and otherwise, she lives a quiet, content life. art + lore: yours truly code: @riverdale song: belongs to its respectful artist char: @driipleaf this is entry 1/2!
