The Looking Glass --------- Life is a thing both joyful and daunting; A symphony of sound both delightful and haunting. Looking out through the glass the world goes by, Swishing and whirling then gone with the tide. Safe behind the glass is where I’ll be; Hiding from the risks and insecurities. However there’s a part of me that looks back. And wonders what I’d be like if I was like that. A person free from the clutches of responsibility; One that is bursting with youthful vitality. A soul that wanders beyond the safety of home. And comes back with tales worth bounties of gold. I wonder what life is like outside the looking glass; A whirlwind of endless possibilities and wonderful tasks. A world in which there'd be countless risks. But in the end I’d be rewarded with everlasting bliss. A place where a spirit could wander. With an incessant amount of things to ponder. What would life be like if I broke the looking glass, Step out into the world, and take my chance? The glass may cut, but the wounds will heal. A lesson learned, a truth revealed. And so I step through, looking ahead, Head held high, where courage is bred. And so I’m here amongst the rest. Dreamers and believers looking for the best. The glass may cut, and I might fall, But I'm ready to finally give it my all.
