yes, the Soldier. The patriotic, occasionally arrogant, exploderific offense class that specializes in... well, blowing things up. Soldiers have the second highest health and second lowest base movement speed (both just behind Heavy), but are really powerful for a variety of reasons. They have a variety of rocket launchers, shoes, and shovels at their disposal, and are very powerful pushers along side Heavy's, Pyros, and Demomen. PRIMARY Rocket Launcher 4 rockets in the clip, really strong damage. Has splash, so you don't need to be too precise. The Rocket Launcher, like all others, can be used to Rocket Jump, and all (except for O N E) can be used to bounce your enemies into the air, allowing for an easy follow-up explosive to the new shiny grill. Direct Hit The Direct Hit is, in a single word, E X T R E M E L Y P O W E R F U L. It does incredibly high damage, the rockets travel significantly faster, but there's very minimal splash damage. At point blank, it does around 150 damage, which is insane, and does mini-crits on enemies sent airborne by rockets that launched them into the air. It's really, really powerful, especially up close. When using it, get aggressive! The world is your target, so blast it to pieces! You have a ridiculously powerful weapon of mass destruction, so go use it! Air Strike Like the Direct Hit, this weapon is E X T R E M E L Y P O W E R F U L. It will gain an expanded clip size the more kills you get with it, and will fire significantly faster when Rocket Jumping, so if you get 4 kills with it, you can essentially just start carpet bombing the other team. Paired with the B.A.S.E. Jumper, you can literally unleash a barrage of rockets and destroy everything. Rocket Jumper The Rocket Jumper is the ideal weapon for Trolldier, a subclass based on Rocket Jumping. It does no damage to anything, and has much more maximum ammo, but still 4 rockets per clip. Interesting note: the Rocket Jumper's damage is simply multiplied by zero, so it will still reset the health regeneration from the Concheror, which we will go over later. Cow Mangler Does minimal damage to buildings, but has a charged attack when its clip is full that will temporarily disable buildings. It's one of, if not the only, good laser weapon. It has infinite ammo, and is genuinely good. Black Box The Black Box has 3 rockets in the clip, and will give you more health back when you deal damage with it. It's honestly pretty good, but encourages a less aggressive play style as compared to the others. Liberty Launcher Bad. No. Don't use. It does less damage, but has more rockets per clip. Just don't unless you're doing a hybrid Trolldier. Original Same as Stock, but the Rocket launcher is instead on the bottom of the screen. Beggar's Bazooka This weapon is splendid. It's functionally entirely different from any other Soldier primary, since instead of having a clip, you instead hold down the fire button to start loading rockets individually, up to three. Once released, it will release all three in a barrage. It has projectile deviation, up to three degrees (but it feels like a lot more), and if you overload the chamber, it will overload. This is supposed to be a downside, but it can actually let you perform mid-air jumps. You can also just repeatedly click fire the essentially have an infinite clip, too. SECONDARY Shotgun Same as all the others. Reserve Shooter Has a smaller clip and slightly weaker stats, but it will mini-crit those propelled into the air by jet packs or rockets. Use it in combo with a rocket launcher to deal some pretty decent damage. Battalion's Backup A weapon that will let you charge up a buff by dealing damage, when activated all nearby teammates get damage resistance and crit immunity. It also gives you a flat +20 max health. Concheror A really good weapon, the Concheror is also a damage charged weapon. It will give you health regeneration, up to +4 a second, slowly building up, but will reset to +1 when you take damage. The Rocket Jumper will also reset it, even though it doesn't deal direct damage to you, since the damage is just multiplied by 0. Buff Banner The third and final damage-charged weapon for Soldier, the Buff Banner will grant guaranteed mini-crits to all nearby teammates, which is really good for a push. Righteous Bison Oh, the Bison. This poor weapon is unfortunately utter garbage. It has slow moving projectiles, that can hit multiple times, but it's still really not good. Mantreads The Mantreads are perfect for Rocket Jumping. They give you a much better air strafe, and less knockback from damage. Gunboats They give you a really nifty resistance to self-dealt rocket damage. MELEE shovel. Disciplinary Action Whip your friends into shape with this weapon, giving you both a short, yet effective speed boost. It does minimal damage, which makes it even funnier when you get a vanquish. Half-Zatoichi Same as the Demoman weapon. Demo's and Soldiers can duel.
(The duels are one-hit KO'S) Market Gardener Fires slower, but will give you guaranteed critical hits when Rocket Jumping. Escape Plan Gives you a speed boost the lower health you have, in exchange for giving you Marked-for-Death. Equalizer Does more damage the less health you have. Notes: The Soldier is really strong for dealing with almost anything. Sentries are no match for a smart Soldier, since the high damage is too much for most Engineers to deal with.
