I remixed! With my answers! Wow Eleta posted something I didn't know it was possible — 1: What story will you be using to answer these questions? How would you quickly describe the storyline? Threeheart is a very old story that I've been attempting to write (for real this time). Basically, thirty years before my story takes place, the kingdom at the center of my main island completely collapsed, as monsters started becomeing more common and very aggressive. Most of the people who survived escaped to neighboring kingdoms, where due to magical shenanigans they are unable to return home. People born outside of the kingdom can enter it though, and many research and recovery missions have been made, many organized by the Vientish Society for Growing Knowledge. One of these missions went awry, and two people on that mission, Krys and Spider, end up meeting the last person still living in the kingdom, Clover. They try and return home with Clover, and face many trials along the way, mostly orchestrated by a strange and mysterious Traveler who does anything to ruin their plans. 2: What inspired your story? This story is Very loosely based on a very old wings of fire fanfic I wrote with my friend in sixth grade. The only things left of that fanfic are some of the character names and the vague alignments of the various kingdoms. In terms of inspirations for the modern version, I'd say the closest inspiration is the webcomic Aurora and the fantasy novel Priory of the Orange tree. Clover also talks about various classic novels they've read, most of which are based on real classic novels. 3: Does it take place on Earth or in a made up land? In what time? As one can guess, it takes place on a fantasy island created by five sea-serpent gods. Obviously, since it's a fantasy land it doesn't have a real life parallel time period, but I'd say it has start-of-the-industrial-revolution vibes. 4: What’s a favorite place in your story and the events that happen there? I really love writing chapters of Clover hanging out in their abandoned castle talking about books I made up. It's relaxing and it's easy to show character details. 5: Who is your protagonist? What is their mission? My three protagonists are Clover, who wants to see more of the kingdom as they've spend their whole life in a castle being a coward and reading books all day. Spider is a young witch and sorcerer (two very different branches of magic) who mostly just wants to get home and not die, but also wants to find cool plants and animals in the Lost Kingdom to use in her spells. Krys is a slightly older lady whose parents were refugees of the original disaster, and mostly wants to get home. She also wants to find artifacts of her family history. 6: Who is the most underrated character in your story and why? I mean the only people who've read the story is me but I have a soft spot for the villain, but I suck at writing him because he is so weird. 7: What two characters have the most interesting relationship (good or bad)? Clover and Spider have a really interesting dynamic because they conflict with each other in fun ways. Spider is inherently distrusting of most people and therefore clashes with Clover a lot, and even though Clover has a very through mind-reading ability, it doesn't mean they Understand Spider. What's funny is both these guys are similar in other ways, mostly their deep curiosity about the world. 8: What are the conflicts of the story? Do you have villains? The conflicts are mostly monsters popping out of the woodwork to attack our main characters. Our villain, The Traveler, is a creepy figure who might look like a normal sorcerer at a glance, except for the fact that he doesn't breathe or blink, and the monsters follow his beck and call. 9: Which character is the most misunderstood? Nobody has any idea of what the Traveler is and why he's like that, mostly because the reason is so weird.
10: Is there a character the most like you (or even based off you)? What qualities do you share? Clover is extremely similar to me, mostly because they spend a lot of time alone with their own thoughts, and it's easier to write narration when they are similar to you. Clover's ability to go on a tangent about a play they read that is similar to Hamlet matches my own ability to go on a tangent about Hamlet. 11: Is there an animal sidekick? Spider does have a dragon friend I'm considering including, but I'm not sure. 12: Who or what acts as the comedic relief? Everyone has their own source of comic relief. Clover is just super weird and not very good at communication, so says obvious things out loud and stuff. Spider is outwardly sassy and says one-liners and stuff, and Krys's narration is full of funny things while Krys herself is very quiet and serious. 13: What is the underlying message or moral of the story? I don't know man. Something about the impact of history or something. 14: What are some symbols or hidden meanings you have placed? oo, that's a good idea. Clovers do have their own in-universe symbolic associations, which is why Clover named themself after them. 15: What genre would you consider your story? Fantasy adventure with a fun dorky spin. The target demographic of this book is Me. 16: What type of media is your story (book, animation, movie, play, etc)? It's a book that lives exclusively in short chunks in my Google docs across two accounts. 17: What’s a song that matches an event or character in your story? Devil Town by Cavetown has a similar offbeat friendship vibe as well as just being a little weird and absurd. 18: Is it a cast of people, animals, or both? It's a cast of people. I am also considering adding a main character that is a wolf-creature to reference this story's history of originally being about Generic Weird Dragon Wolf Things, as I have already established those creatures as existing in this world. 19: What’s something funny or ridiculous that happens? I have test prolouge that includes a narrator waking up in camp to find the Traveler standing above them being ominous, but the narrator is so sleepy they don't panic about it for a few seconds. 20: What’s the biggest obstacle your protagonist must overcome? The monsters, including the Unnamed Beasts, weird, stretched-out spiky monsters with horribly venomous claws. 21: Does anyone die? How does it change things? Some people get got in the first few chapters, but I plan on developing them a little to appear as significant side characters before getting them. The historical character Emire also died kinda horribly, but I feel bad writing about it. 22: Which character would you choose to be your friend? Who would you not get along with? Clover would probably get along with me. I think I would get in a lot of fights with Spider though. 23: If any, what weapons are used? Firearms do exist in this world, but Krys only has so much ammo and barely uses it. Everyone carries a dagger, mostly. The Traveler has a cool staff thing that looks like a mix between a shepherd's hook and a crochet hook. 24: How does your story differ now from when you first started making it? It would be faster to list the things that stayed the same. 25: What’s something interesting about your story that wasn’t asked about here? Everyone who is a sorcerer loses the ability to remember their name, which is a convenient excuse for me to not make up too many fantasy names. Image is an inhumanly rushed doodle of Clover
