Here he is, cheering her up, like a beacon of light. That’s probably why light is his god sake. What’s up with the switch though? Probably nothing, of course it was nothing. She wiped her tears away and sniffled. He stood up and lent a hand to her, which she reluctantly took, walking themselves over to the balcony. She looked beside her to see his arms fully extended, as if taking part in photosynthesis. His wings extended and wrapped around her, as if shielding her from the wind. She pulled the wing down and turned her glance to the festival. She ran to the railing and waved into the crowd, shouting various greetings and cheers. “YEA! DO IT FOR THE WISDOM GOD!” Penn laughed as he saw her enthusiasm, he barely managed to get out, “What are you doing?” “Cheering for my team! Wanna join?” Grey cheered as she pulled Penn over to the edge, yelling once more for the wisdom team, since said event was happening that day. He laughed, blowing a feather into the city, his eyes bright and cheery as he raised his fist in the air and belted. “FOR THE LIGHT GOD!” “YES!” Grey cheered, pulling him into a side-hug. He really is the light god for a reason, huh? Lifting her spirits up. It’s nice to have someone like that. Seeing him, happy, enjoying his afterlife after- who knows how long, enjoying himself and the people he surrounded himself with. Maybe, just maybe, it’s going to be okay. “Thanks.” Grey managed to get out, still sniffling from the tears, but he just grinned at her. “Anytime, we must stick together.” Penn chirped, leaning over the ledge of the railing, he was sitting on it and teetering on the edge, as if aware that it was unable to hurt him much. “OH, MY GODS, DON’T DO THAT, THAT’S-” Grey reached for Penn who had dropped from the balcony, quickly picking himself up with his wings, he was just idle, there in the air. She stared dumbfounded; she forgot gods were divine entities. “Alright, Kitsune girl, you’re Grey, right?” Penn raised an eyebrow, a confident demeanor washed over him, as if he were an entirely new man, hovering there with a large grin on his face. She nodded, it wasn’t that much out of the ordinary for a god to know her name, she thought, but at least he asked if he was right. “HA! I’m grey too!” He joked while pulling up a sleeve to show grey skin. “Stellar name by the way!” She couldn’t help but give a small giggle. Gods, did she miss dad jokes, her father had died when she was only 10, so she hardly remembered the jokes he made. She hopped onto the railing; she wobbled a bit while Penn helped steady her balance, which she found very helpful, she did NOT want to plummet over 50 feet. Beautiful. The sunset had ended, leaving a deep blue tint to everything. Her jaw dropped at the sight. She just stared into the city, voices from all over singing and dancing. Lights from all over sparkled in her view, she felt as if she could reach out and they would all be in the palm of her hand. Everything looked so ethereal, as if she was on a tv show. If so, it looked so high budget, but no. This is real. She is standing there, seeing this in real life. She gazed wide-eyed into the city, her eyes twinkled with pure amusement, everything looked perfect. It was all perfection. As if particularly designed by a master architect, each edge perfectly cut as if it were lasered off. She was speechless. She had never seen the city like this, is this the view they had every day? This is the view of a king! Penn just laughed as he landed himself back on the railing, looking back out into the bustling daytime of the festival. “You get used to a view like this.” “How?” She muttered; her eyes didn’t dare to tear from the sight before her. “Takes about- ehh- 3 years give or take?” He sat on the railing, staring into the evening sky. “But things are different when given another point of view. Anything could change your world view. Like err- love, stress, lack of stress- erm- yea- I think that’s about it in my case.”
She just stared at him. “Are you…” He looked slim- shouldn’t have worn that damn turtleneck. That’s what she thought. He looked too thin, as if unnatural. “Of course! She’s perfect!” He grinned, walking along the railing, twirling an umbrella in his hand. “I was going to say eating.” Grey muttered, eyeing him over again. “I’m working on it.” He mumbled, looking down to the city. “It’s erm- a bad habit.” He crossed his arms as if to cover himself. At least he’s aware. He’s willing to change, right? Grey scoffed, pushing Penn back onto the balcony, he stumbled a bit before regaining his balance. “Have you had breakfast?” “Yes, actually- I-” He murmured, before getting interrupted by Grey. “A yes was all I needed.” She chuckled as she hopped off herself. “Say, where the hell is everyone?” “Err- Jessi’s teaching a lecture, Orchid’s at the greenhouse, err- I think Rae and Trin are off today,” Penn started listing the amount of people in the place, as if living with 13 others never bothered him, but she always assumed it would. “Cupid- I don’t know what the hell Cupid is doing. Jackie and Atlas are probably still sleeping-” Cupid burst in and started greeting the two. “HEYYY-” “LANGUAGE.” Penn snapped, dang, they really do enforce a no swearing rule well. She hasn’t heard anyone cuss except a few “damn”s and “hell”s, which must be an exception. “Awwhh, sorry, Penny!” Cupid laughed as he pulled Penn into a hug, which he gave multiple protesting chirps. “D-Don’t do that! You know I hate being touched!” Penn struggled to get out of his grasp, which looked quite funny, oddly enough. Seeing him weak and helpless, struggle for just enough wiggle room to sleep out. “GET THE HELL AWAY FROM ME.” Owww- even she felt that one. Cupid had received a kick to the chest that had left him winded, he struggled to regain his breath, coughing multiple times, staring wide-eyed at the man whose gaze turned cold and crystalized. “What did I tell you?” The man muttered, each consonant punched through the atmosphere, leaving everything on a cliff hanger, “WHAT DID I TELL YOU?” A seraph? An arch angel? This man, this here man that just winded Cupid was a seraph, and no one bothered to look at that. Pitch black and white eyes scattered behind him, she saw at least 6 wings sprouting from his back, and a pitch white halo covering most of his face. Horrifying, how can one love a face like that? And just as quickly as she could blink, he returned to his normal self. Right as Cupid could finally open his eyes and finish coughing. “Oh my- yea- sorry, Penn, I really… I really shouldn’t have done that.” Cupid groaned, holding his torso. Penn’s gaze softened as he kneeled to Cupid. “Oh, my! Look, I’ll see if I can get someone, I’m too sorry! Something must have kicked in!” Penn rambled as he checked for any bruises on his arms, as if there would be, what kind of man checks for bruises on the arms when they kicked them in the chest? “Grey, mind staying with him while I grab Rae?” Oh Rae, goddess of healthcare! Simple as that! She’ll know what to do, clearly! Penn ran off from the love angel, his loafers clicking against the floor, as if someone was snapping every time he took a step, which was odd enough. “Riight- so- you’re Cupid?” Grey tilted her head as she kneeled next to Cupid, putting pressure against the chest to make sure nothing was broken. “Can you breathe?” Cupid nodded, taking large gulps of air, he seemed to be smiling, oddly enough. He let our exasperated sighs that sounded like laughs. “You know, that’s the first time he’s done that.” “I didn’t think he’d do that period.” Grey muttered, putting pressure on a rib. “You know, since he’s the god of light now and everything. You’d think they’d stand for peace. Peace and understanding, but instead, I think he cracked one of your ribs.” “So, it’s like that. He would totally do that. Trying to be non-violent before making a powerful blow.” Cupid exhausted, giving a small laugh before coughing some more. “Bloody hell! I’m fine!” Everyone is dumb. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! EVERYONE IS DUMB! She tried to hold in her fury, she could feel her hair stand up on the back of her neck, as if a bursting flame appeared in her very soul. How can people say they’re fine when they had just gotten a cracked rib? First, it’s Penn not eating, like who the hell doesn’t eat on purpose? He knows he can die from hunger! He’s doing it on purpose! Now, Cupid’s here on the floor, barely breathing and coughing his lungs out, and he’s saying not to worry about it! THEY’RE ALL IDIOTS.
