I am Ellie, and this is my story. I have always been known as the one that people come to for help with homework, not for anything else. Book smarts is all I am known for. I am the last pick for anything that isn't academic based. Gym, people fight over who gets me on their team... for the opposite team to get me. The only time I got picked for anything over anybody else that wasn't academic was in band. I am a first chair clarinet. There is one person that actually treats me like an actual person, Riden. He is my best friend...although I know I am just holding him back, he insists on staying my friend, no matter how much I tell him that I am not worth it. On our way to my class, as Riden always takes me to my class before he goes to his, the popular guys came up to me, as usual, and asked for the answers for the World History homework. I just gave it to them just so that they would leave me alone. Afferward, Riden asked his normal question after someone would come up to me. "Why do you give them the answers? They should get in trouble for not doing it themselves." In Which, I give my natural response. " I Just want everyone to pass." Riden knows I tend to put people's needs before my own. So he usually tries to protect that part of me as much as he can. On my way to the band room, I stopped by my locker to grab my clarinet. When I opened it, someone behind me closed it shut, hard. Then shoved me against the locker and turned me around...The popular guys. One talked to me. "You gave us the wrong answers to the homework for the second time in a month. People are starting to think we are stupid." "What!? No I-i d-didn't. I know I g-gave you the right answers." "Aw, she's stuttering. I wonder how much she would stutter with a fat lip and a pair of black eyes." The one that talked punched me, hard. I started to taste blood, they made me cut my lip. Another punch and I am on the floor, black on the edges of vision. I am so dizzy, I am afraid to stand up. "HEY! LEAVE HER ALONE!" Someone yelled towards them, then the popular guys scurried away. I am too dizzy to see clearly, but the guy that yelled at them came to me and knelt next to me. "Hey, I'm here, stay with me Ellie." That was the last thing I heard before everything went black.
*This entire book is about one of my friends, she has gone through this, so this is basically non-fiction. I just changed the names to protect their identity*
