- Tower of Echthroi - ☆ Best Played in turbowarp ☆ Link: https://turbowarp.org/1131175925 Instructions below VVV ☆ Story ☆ Five hundred years ago, evil was on the rise, and a tower had come out of the ground. Wise men and priests said that there was an evil presence about the tower. Eventually a mighty five were brought together. These legendary heroes wandered through the tower, and vanquished many evils. However, when they reached the source of it all, they were slain. Before they were slain they had cast mighty spells, and used weapons of magic, and thus greatly weakened the evil. This was thought just to be a legend, until recently. Now a similar tower has risen, thought to be the same tower, with an evil presence about it. Will you defeat the evil of the tower, or will you be slain trying like those before you? Only time will tell. Are you ready? ☆ Battle Instructions ☆ When you enter a battle, your party is on the right side of the screen, with enemies on the left. When one of your character starts flashing, it means it is his/her turn, and he/she can choose an action. This action depends on the class of the character. To select one of the actions, move the selection arrow with the arrow keys (up and down keys only), then hit Z to select it. If you made a mistake, you can go back by hitting X. Here are the actions each class can use: Fighter - Fight, Parry, Item. Paladin - Fight, Parry, Item, White Magic. Duelist - Fight, Parry, Item. Has a chance to get a double hit (passive ability) White Mage - Fight, Parry, Item, White Magic. Black Mage - Fight, Parry, Item, Black Magic. You can see each party members class in the inventory & stats menu. Here is an explanation of each action: Fight - Just fighting. Parry - Slightly increase defense for a short time. Item - You can use an item that you've acquired. White Magic - Spells to heal the party. Black Magic - Spells like fire, lightning and ice, used against enemies. After you have selected an ability, if you've selected Black Magic, White Magic, or Item, you have to select your item or spell. Use the Up/Down keys, hit Z to select, and hit X to go back. If you chose fight instead, or you just finished selecting a spell or item, you must now select the target of your action. Hit Up/Down arrow keys to choose and Z to confirm, if you hit X you will be taken back to your previous menu, If you hit C, and the item can hit more than one target, you will start selecting one whole party. You can hit C to toggle which party, and you can hit Up/Down keys to return to selecting a single target. Note: Multi targeting spreads the damage across all targets, rather than multiplying the damage done. ☆ Instructions Traversing the Map ☆ Arrow keys and WASD move your character in the respective direction. To open chests, you must be facing towards them and then hit Z. Hit I to go to the inventory. ☆ Inventory Instructions ☆ Arrow keys move the selection arrow respectively. If you want to use an item, hit Z when the arrow is on its left. Then use the left and right arrow keys to select which party member to use the item on. Hit X to go back. If you want to equip a weapon select it as you would with an item, (will be continued)
☆ Programming Credits ☆ Just me. ☆ Special Credits ☆ I thank @samkov, for being a great competitor. He has helped give me motivation to keep going, and thus I thank him. Check out his project here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/1127239265/ Other competitors have also been very good and sportsman like. These include @TheKidFromMars, @AreYouAlbert, and others I am forgetting. ☆ Inspirations ☆ My main inspiration for this project was Final Fantasy IV, a JRPG with a somewhat similar battle system. The word "Echthroi" is taken from Madeleine L'Engle's "A Wind in the door" meaning demon or, more literally 'enemy'. ☆ Art Credits ☆ All art by me, with some help here and there from my siblings @LordOfDragon32, @LadyOfDragons, and @Pegasus-Rider. ☆ Sound Credits ☆ Kings & Dragons, and Leave the world tonight by Kim Lightyear Retro Blip by Driken Stan Upbeat Battle by Darren Curtis sword-slash-and-swing-185432 by DavidDumaisAudio Fire Sound Effects by Alice_soundz Lightning Strike, ice-crash-66556, and menubutton by freesound community #games #rpg #art #sfx
