"I love buildings." - Sultan Mehmed II of the Ottoman Empire Istanbul (not Constantinople, get it right.)
Based on this section of the paragraph about the fall of Constantinople. "...the Sultan found the city largely deserted and half in ruins; churches had been desecrated and stripped, houses were no longer habitable, and stores and shops were emptied. He is famously reported to have been moved to tears by this, saying, "What a city we have given over to plunder and destruction." Despite all the horrendous things he ordered to be committed, he was upset about the sight of the buildings in the city being destroyed. Therefore, a more simplified version of what he said was, "Not the precious buildings!"
