Chapter 3: The Call The next day, Vanelope and Max sat on her bed, staring at the flyer. Vanellope took a deep breath and dialed the number. It rang once. Twice. Three times. Then, a voice answered. "Hello?" Vanelope hesitated. "Uh, hi. I saw your flyer about the lost headphones. I... I might have found them." The person on the other end gasped. "You have them? Oh, thank goodness! Those are very special headphones. Can we meet? I'll give you the reward." Vanelope bit her lip. "Who are you? And how did the headphones get lost?" There was a pause. "It's a long story, but I promise I'll explain everything when we meet. Please, this is really important." Vanelope glanced at Max, who nodded. "Okay," she said. "Let's meet." ''Meet me on the Kingston street at the house number 21,'' said the person and the line went dead. ''Gee, what a werido,'' commented Max, ''Who just hangs up on someone when they just found a possession of theirs?!'' Vanelope didn't reply, she shrugged and trudged off to her room.
